The 10 Most Overrated Musical Artists of All Time
PJ Media ^ | 13 Feb 2019 | Chris Queen

Posted on 02/14/2019 2:04:22 PM PST by Rummyfan

Not long ago, I wrote about the most overrated hits songs of all time. I love compiling lists like those because they allow me to get in touch with my snarky side as well as rant a little. In that post four months ago, I mused about doing a list of overrated artists. Well, the time has come.

Here are the ten most overrated musical artists of all time. Don’t get me wrong: I like some of the music by some of these artists, and though there are only a few bands and solo performers I completely despise, you’ll find that I don’t hold back on how little I care for many of the folks on this list.

Believe me, I’m aware that I’m going to ruffle some feathers with this list. I’m fine with that, because taste in music is always subjective. But as you read the list, keep an open mind and see if you agree with me. And even if you don’t, just have fun reading it

Where did you get the idea that the Eagles were from the UK?

That Stones lyric was “I’m so hot for her”, BTW.

As for Journey, they had a pre-Steve Perry era that was underrated. And there is an interesting comparison with Kansas, particularly the Journey song I’m Gonna Leave You with Carry On Wayward Son.

I know. Lot’s stunk. Journey was one of my areas HS bands and I remember they were so bad guys were tossing beer bottles and M-80’s at them. Grateful Dead were terribly dull and bizarre. I never ever understood how Springsteen could start a good beat then he starts singing and yelling and ruins the whole song. Maybe it’s a New Jersey thing?

A New Jersey thing. Interesting. Maybe. The two songs Springsteen did that I can listen to, and I turned down an invite to go see him in 1978, are 1 the live version of never surrender and 2 Valentine’s Day. Both of which he doesn’t take over and eat up

He is a good poet too.

But he is overrated and a liberal pain in the kahoolias

REM is not over rated, they had their day, not the best band ever but definitely not over rated. Same goes for the B52’s and The Go Go’s, they were fun at the time and still are on occasion but definitely not over rated. I don’t even know if you can rate them, just fun short lived pop music.
My most over rated artist of all time is, horror of horrors, Bob Dylan, never got it so crucify me.

Whitney Houston really did have a beautiful voice, but after she died I never listened to her songs again. It was weird, but her dysfunctional life and end just took every last bloom off the rose for me.

Billy Joel bites. Listened to his first album and nearly threw up it was so horrible. Don’t look it up, trust me. Another one is Phil Collins. But he gets HUGE credit turning what he earned into enough millions to buy his own island. I want to know his finance people.

Near my old stomping grounds in Orangeburg, NY, an old garage that was converted into the 914 Studios in the early 70’s where Sh!tstain recorded some of the songs on the Asbury Park album was landmarked. FEH!! My dad and uncle had Impalas from the early 60’s, loved them since I was a kid. We’d buy cars like those in hs for around $100 and beat the heck out of them, they were only used cars in those days, if only we knew! A few months ago a 64 Impala SS convertible with a 409, factory air and all the options sold for over 100k on Barret Jackson.

Billy Joel had Liberty DeVitto, one of the best rock drummers ever.
