Not long ago, I wrote about the most overrated hits songs of all time. I love compiling lists like those because they allow me to get in touch with my snarky side as well as rant a little. In that post four months ago, I mused about doing a list of overrated artists. Well, the time has come.
Here are the ten most overrated musical artists of all time. Don’t get me wrong: I like some of the music by some of these artists, and though there are only a few bands and solo performers I completely despise, you’ll find that I don’t hold back on how little I care for many of the folks on this list.
Believe me, I’m aware that I’m going to ruffle some feathers with this list. I’m fine with that, because taste in music is always subjective. But as you read the list, keep an open mind and see if you agree with me. And even if you don’t, just have fun reading it

Manfred Mann’s Blinded by the Light was written by Springsteen who sucks compared to Little Steve and Southside Johnny
I agree, wholeheartedly. Geddy filling in on bass for the unfortunately late great Chris Squire when Yes was inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame was a great musician filling in for another great musician.
Oh, come on now ... let's be rational here. How can you forget:

Michael Jackson? The guy had incredible talent not only as a performer but get this ... he actually wrote his songs. World-class talent. He created a genre of music that simply didn’t exist before. Great talent -— but just keep him away from your little boys.
Yeah, I liked REM back when I couldn't understand what Michael Stipe was singing.
Lorelei is a great song!
The only good band from Jersey was The Smithereens.

And back in the day:
It was fun, but it was probably the worst song on that album. It also gained some exposure as the theme song for Chris Elliott’s “Get A Life” show on Fox in the early ‘90s.

They actually changed Springsteen’s original lyric “Cut loose like a deuce, another runner in the night” to “Revved up like a deuce etc.”
You need to check out Journey before the whiny lead singer came on board.

He is impeccable in timing and tone. His voice is good, but how it puts it together makes him great.
The Rolling Stones... Let It Bleed, Beggars Banquet, Sticky Fingers... Maybe Exile on Main Street. And there’s onesie twozies on everything else they did they’re not my favourite but I’ve always enjoyed listening to Charlie Watts play the drums.
I missed the whole grunge scene and I did like Missing Persons because they came out of the Zappa camp, and I thought Talking Heads were interesting, The Police were pivotal, Led Zeppelin was really good with a hook, and I’ve seen most of these bands and out of all the bands I’ve seen one of my favorite concerts was Led Zeppelin in 1972, and my least favorite concert I’ve ever been to in my entire life was the Rolling Stones. Thankfully Stevie Wonder opened up for them that year and as far as I’m concerned the Rolling Stones still owe me money back on that ticket I purchased. I should charge them by the hour for putting me through what they put me through that day cuz it was absolutely terrible. I was in bands and I would have been embarrassed to be on stage playing like that in front of anybody.
I’m not a real big Dylan fan but I have heard other bands do a take a Dylan song and just make it their own and it’s phenomenal but I do like his lyrics and when I listen to a Dylan song it’s kind of like listening to a working version of something that is going to take on a whole different shape and sound.
And I don’t have the time nor do you all have the patience to listen to a diatribe about my personal music interests but I’ll just leave it at this I really dig Jazz and I like a lot of really good rock but there’s a lot of rock and a lot of jazz that just plain sucks.
Geddy’s voice became much more reasonable when Permanent Waves came out.
