I had a female friend in graduate school who was quite tall, maybe 6’3”. (Her sister was even taller.) She once told me that her mother had gotten into a minor traffic accident, and since the other party was a very tall, rather young man she asked if he’d like to meet her daughter.

Believable. I had a good friend who was 5'10" which isn't really that tall but she was really self conscious about it. She only wanted to date guys taller than her. You had to be minimum 6' or taller. Seemed odd to me but when I think about it I suppose I'd feel awkward on a date with a girl who was 6'3" given I'm 6 feet.

By the way, she married a guy who was no taller than her, maybe even a little shorter. No rules in love and war, I suppose.

That scenario doesn’t seem weird to me. Almost seems like a natural thing to ask, especially if the mom had pictures and told him a little more about her daughter.

That is a far cry from a mom going to her son’s college and soliciting dates for her son.
