Police at Towson University near Baltimore are warning people on campus about a woman who is approaching students, apparently looking for a date for her son.
The Baltimore Sun said the woman, whose name was not released, visited Cook Library and the Center for the Arts, and showed students a photo of her son on her cellphone, asking if they would be interested in dating him.
It happened on Feb. 6 and 7, WBAL reported.

What is the crime that compelled the police to be involved? This nanny state overreach needs to stop.
I’d ban—uh, buy the old lady a cup of coffee.
I am 5’10”. In my early 20s I dated a girl who was 6’4” for a cpl of years. There are benefits.
When you are toe to toe your nose is in it. When nose to nose your toes is in it. ;-)
She hated that joke.
Some guys can pull it off. She was shy. I am not...
That got a chuckle...
How did that turn out?
That scenario doesn’t seem weird to me. Almost seems like a natural thing to ask, especially if the mom had pictures and told him a little more about her daughter.
That is a far cry from a mom going to her son’s college and soliciting dates for her son.
Pretty much. What law is being broken here?
“Police told the Sun theyre not looking to charge her criminally, but want to make her stop”
WTF
“I have this woman pegged as an Asian Tiger Mom gone a bit over the top.”
Probably Chinese.
Just doing it the way they do back in the old country.
I worked with a Chinese gal many years ago. Straight off the boat, knew about 10 words of English max.
Her husband had come here to college and decided China was a crap hole. As soon as he could get himself, his wife and their son out of China he did it. Hong Kong to England to USA.
This was during China’s one child years. The husband wanted more children but she was adamant that there would be no more babies.
Nice lady, good cook but committed to the Party dictates.
They rented a two story house in town. She put carpet down on the paved drive so the Little Emporer wouldn’t hurt himself.
Talk about cultural divide!
If you can’t enjoy the joy of embarrassing your children, what good is it being a parent.
Of course, I usually accomplish this by showing off my dancing skills.
If I don’t get any red-faced eye rolls, my day is not complete.
That’s a story line Seinfeld would have run with.
Without my knowledge, my Father tried to get me interviews at a few of the larger, most famous American electronics/computer corporations (that had, still apparently have.. a record of not interviewing or hiring many applicants of what they consider to be the “wrong” ethnic groups)
I felt such embarrassment when I came across his file of some of the letters he wrote as part of his efforts... I only discovered what he’d tried to do for me when I had to clean up his effects after his passing.. years later.
The corporations are still known for not wanting to hire certain American citizens who just happen to belong to population groups they don’t want
instead of hiring the Americans, they import thousands of communist Chinese and other foreigners for the jobs here (and the companies also export much, maybe most of their work.. to those foreign countries)
the above also applies to not hiring some American citizens who graduate with advanced degrees from leading top tier USA universities, and with honors and at the top of their classes
I have a great-nephew who is a policeman. His wife was introduced to him by her parents. Her parents met the young man when he stopped to help them with a flat tire. Cute story.
And, yes, untenured, your story is much different than that of this wacky mother.

Perfect!
I like to say “You’re the Sikorsky Skycrane of helicopter parents”.
Good one! If you look at the cockpit of the one below, you can almost make out the facial expression of a too-involved mother in the process of emasculating her son.
Unless this mother wants to be doing her son's laundry for the rest of her natural life, she needs to get off campus immediately!
No girl in her right mind would ever go on a date with a boy that was arranged by his mother.
Im thinking Jew. Knowing the area as well as some demo characteristics.
I think we need to make match-makers a mainstream phenomena, drawing on the experience of the Jewish and Hindu communities.
I am 510. Ive never been picky. Not about height. I even dragged my short cousin to the prom with me. At least he was cute and made me look good (one friend couldnt stand it and stole him away when I went to the RR).
As it is my DH is just 2 taller, but at that height I cant tell.
