I think the president needs to stand firm and say NO.

His rise in the polls has been due to his strength.

By offering SOME money, the dems have admitted that the issue is NOT that the wall is immoral. They’d have to admit that they don’t mind $1.3 billion worth of immoral, but $5.7 will never do.

Now that more people are aware of the border crisis (because of the first shutdown), the dems will take the hit for the next shutdown (if it happens). Or, if he goes state of emergency, he now has more people backing him and the dems look REALLY bad trying to stop it, especially since they partially backed it.

That’s one way of looking at it. I don’t look at it that way. Although I would still support President Trump if he caves and does not even build a portion of the wall, I would tend not to have confidence that he would accomplish any more of border security in his second term. A few miles of wall is just a small part of what he promised. Even when we had a republican majority in the House, the 60 vote rule prevented any progress. Is that what will go down in history books as the way our country, as we know it now, ended?

Strangely, this gives me so much hope.

Many moons ago, we had a Republican Pres and Senate pushing for amnesty. EVERYONE was ignoring the crimes, except for a handful including Tom Tancredo and Duncan Hunter. Minutement volunteers, primarily vets, were ridiculed and mocked. Even FR banned posters that were against amnesty and pulled all threads related to the Minutmen. Sheriff Joe and a few others also held their ground.

Things have progressed quite a bit since then! I’m so happy to see patriots here seeing the truth. And even a few Congresscritters getting it. Local law enforecement is getting it now too. And of course, We the People voted for a President that doesn’t have blinders on. I’m actually very hopeful, for the first time in several decades.

I just did an internet search for “bollard” fence images. They are made from posts which varied from about 2 to 30 feet high with connections at the top. It just means.... made from posts that can be seen through as opposed to a solid concrete wall.
