A group of winter-sports athletes and the world’s biggest snowboard maker want the president of the International Ski Federation to resign after he spoke of “so-called climate change” and said he would rather deal with dictators than argue with environmentalists.
The climate advocacy group Protect Our Winters sent an open letter Friday urging 75-year-old Gian-Franco Kasper to step aside.
In an interview with the Swiss newspaper Tages-Anzeiger, Kasper said “dictators can organize (big) events … without asking the people’s permission” and that “from the business side, I say: I just want to go to dictatorships; I do not want to argue with environmentalists.”
He also referenced “so-called” climate change, and when challenged on that, responded “We have snow, sometimes very much.” He pointed to frigid temperatures at last year’s Pyeongchang Olympics. “To anyone shuddering toward me, I said: ‘Welcome to the global warming’,” Kasper told the newspaper. …

At age 75, Mr. Kasper should tell them all to go to hell and walk out to enjoy retirement. Let the Ecofreaks screw up the sports.
The irony is the very people calling for his head are proving his point.
This global warming/climate change nonsense is so incredible that it is still almost impossible to believe.
It is impossible to believe that this type of nonsense can go on year after year.

Rush has been complaining that “we can’t afford it” challenges to socialism fall on deaf ears. IMHO that’s because naive people think that dollars are magic. Got a problem? Just print more dollars!Reality is, of course, that monetary numbers represent reality in a highly nonlinear way - dollars represent reality if and only if the supply of dollars does not accelerate. At least, not very fast and not very long.
The naive socialist “Philips Curve” theory tries to associate economic activity with the number of dollars extant, but if you try to plot the Philips curve with real data you get a shotgun pattern. They would have a lot more success, IMHO, if they plotted economic activity against the rate of increase of the money supply. Or, perhaps more likely, the acceleration thereof.
Problem being, socialists can increase the dollar supply a lot, but the chickens come home to roost when the supply of dollars outruns the supply of goods and services dramatically enough. That happened during the Carter Administration, having gotten its start under Nixon (and, really, his Democrat Congress). The result is that dollar-denominated prices are an order of magnitude higher now than they were in the 1950s. Late or soon, sanity - and stability in the dollar supply - prevail.
