Although I'm not exactly complaining, I find this curious.

In other cases, police officers have been known to jump fences and sneak through back yard which searching for some burglar that someone spotted. When such police encounter a family pet, they seem to often just gun the dog down.

Here we have a dog attack two people -- one an infant -- and the police wrestle with the dog, one cop being injured by falling during that struggle and the dog being successfully subdued and put into confinement.

Such relative gentleness seems surprising. But the world is upside down.

Also, I'd like to know if it's a "rescue" dog. Somebody posted on another forum that their rescue dog bit the daughter, but the poster (the dad) decided to keep the dog. His next post was of his son in the ER after having been attacked in the face by the mutt.

The father was having remorse for keeping the dog. I was thinking, but didn't say, that he should be turned in for child abuse for being so stupid.

The question here should be why and who made the dog that angry? Did the kid take his food away? Did the mom beat the dog? Had it had problems before?

My brother is a cop on Perkasie's force and was there. He
said that the dog looked like a black lab, not a Pit.

The dog was crated by the father when they arrived, so
the threat was over and that is why the dog was not shot.
The child died on the way to the hospital, but was revived
and flown to CHOP...last word was that she was stable,
thank the Lord.
