What is it? A new minor league to test American's appitite for football and give players a chance to audition for the NFL. Founded by Charlie Ebersol and former NFL executive Bill Polian.
What are the teams and their head coaches?
Eastern Conference
Atlanta Legends, Kevin Coyle
Birmingham Iron, Tim Lewis
Memphis Express, Mike Singletary
Orlando Apollos Steve Spurrier
Western Conference
Arizona (Tempe) Hotshots, Rick Neuheisel
Salt Lake Stallions, Dennis Erickson
San Antonio Commanders, Mike Riley
San Diego Fleet, Mike Martz
Did they put a lot of thought into these team names?? Probably not.
How do you watch it? The inugaral game, San Diego at San Antonio, is on CBS, Saturday FEB 9th, 8:30 Eastern Standard Time (pre game at 8). There are 4 games a week, one a week will air on CBS Sports Network, Memphis at Birmingham at 4 eastern on Sunday FEB 5th, the rest will available on the AAF app for free.
Are the rules different from NFL? There are no kickoffs, teams will begin possesions on their own 25 yard line. There are no PAT kicks, teams will attempt 2-point conversions after each touchdown. There will be no TV time outs and fewer commercials. The play clock is 35 seconds instead of 40. Overtime will be "High School rules" each team gets a possention on their own 10 yard line, games end in tie if still tied after that. I don't much care for elimination of kickoffs cause I know the NFL wants to follow suit, they've already tried hard to ruin them so no one will care when they are abolished. No PATs probably makes it more interesting though.
Where can you find more info? The internet. https://aaf.com/schedule
Will this be the thread for the whole season or will it be weeky or whatever? That depends on interest level, my whims, and the whims of anyone else that might like to post AAF threads.
Is there a picks contest? I don't plan on it but feels free to make picks!!!
Should you care? Only if you want to. Feel free to just ignore the thread if you don't! Or you could troll it, whatever you want.
Will her southern cuz, Birmingham Betty... do?
Interesting article. A real Doh for Patriot hating ESPN
Saw this on snapface this morning.
Didnt know there were official team affiliations.
My picks
Birmingham over Salt Lake
Arizona over Memphis
Orlando over San Antonio
San Diego over Atlanta
You bitches are ALL... photoshopped!
Now, that's tell 'em how... the cookie crumbles, Babe--
Birmingham
Arizona
San Antonio
San Diego
And please record my picks this time, gentlemen.
Yeah it seems like every team has some kind of player rights arraignment with 4 NFL teams.
For the Bears it’s the Zona Hotshots, looks like I have another team to root for!
The Commanders are affiliated with the Cowboys AND Old Texans.
Pats are with the Iron.
:: For the Bears its the Zona Hotshots, looks like I have another team to root for! ::
Might be the right move ‘cuz Arizona should fare better than Singletary’s team.
Them crazy eyes are scary, tho!
No wonder the Iron looked so good
Salt Lake at Birmingham Sat, Feb 16 1:00 PM CT
Arizona at Memphis Sat, Feb 16 7:00 PM CT
Orlando at San Antonio Sun, Feb 17 3:00 PM CT
Atlanta at San Diego Sun, Feb 17 7:00 PM CT
I suck at these, but what the hell!
Bham
Arizona
San Antonio
Atlanta
Most of the AAF games are great for napping so far.
Tonight’s game is on the NFL network, which I can’t get to stream.
The AAF app is working on my tablet, but there is no sound.
Go to youtube and search "Alliance Of American Football" and you will find it streaming live on the Memes TV channel.
Was surprised at the Stallions/Iron game on TNT being so close yet the Iron pulled it out in the end 12 to 9.
Same surprise on the Hotspt/Express game at halftime as Memphis is doing much better than last week, leading 12 to zip, against what has been said to be the best team in the AAL after last week.
NFL Network App works on my tablet, but I don’t wanna watch on that so I tried to get for my android-enabled Chromebook, audio but NO PICTURE! Ridiculous.
So I’ve turned to a pirate stream. Memphis is winning.
If I recall correctly, you said the same thing... about bowling--
And... drinking!
