Why Doesn't Trump Use Gab? (vanity)
Gab ^ | 2/2/19 | Self

Twitter deliberately spreads disinformation on a worldwide scale. It employs manipulative algorithms to suppress opposing views. It decides what stories are important - whether it's a child smiling at an Indian, or a baby-voiced headcase claiming she was almost raped at an imaginary party 40 years ago. It has unprecedented power over the media and which stories are covered.

Why does Trump use a service that is so destructive and so biased against the right? If he left twitter for another service, twitter would lose a lot of its power and influence.

I have never actually used gab before, but from what I understand, it's like twitter but less hostile towards conservatives. Seems like it would be a good fit for him. I know people say ignore social media, but social media *controls* media. Every big story on twitter becomes a big story everywhere. It's the largest and most effective propaganda tool in history.

Because their front page gets littered with white supremacists?

I’m looking at the popular posts right now, and I don’t see any white supremacists.

Because Gab's founders made a very bad decision to allow "Gas the Kikes!" actual Nazis to have a happy home there. Even after Pittsburgh, they have barely toned it down. Instead of paying moderators and having a sane posting policy, Gab used a blocking function so you just would not see the Nazi postings once you blocked them. But this had the unintended consequence of giving the worst of these pro-Zykon B freaks a happy hidden cellar to ramp each other up to even greater "I love Hitler!" insanity. Even now Gab is a Nazi recruiting zone. Every tenth post is about Da Evil Jooz. Folks who engage those posters get linked to worse rings of hell. Today.

I can’t understand why he wants to support a service that clearly hates us. If you look at replies to his tweets, it’s always liberals at the top, and conservative tweets buried at the bottom where no one can see them. Their bias is so obvious.

Gab is unfortunately not the answer, and I’ve been a member for over a year. There’s a basic math problem that for any alternative social network, in that it’s by definition going to disproportionately represent viewpoints that are banned from mainstream media, which then makes it appear to be a white supremacist site, or whatever else that might be worse. Then if the alternative tries to ban those viewpoints, the margin in between is so small as to lose any possible “network effects” (i.e. social networks are only valuable to the extent that everyone you care about is participating).

I do think that Trump and those closely allied to him should try to come with an alternative platform not just to Twitter, but it would have to be all across the Internet even further down to the “root”, i.e. it would need to involve web hosting, payments, security, probably mail, file sharing, news, in addition to the standard sort of social media. Gab for example lost their hosting service, other alternatives have lost their payment processing, etc.

But it’s certainly a worthwhile entreprise, because the way Alex Jones for example was just disappeared from almost the entire Internet has to seriously mute all of our voices, particularly those who rely on the internet for their revenue.

Because they don’t have a mobile app, thus 99.999999% of social media users aren’t even aware they exist.

I see a day soon where either Don Jr or Eric launches a Twitter-like service. Then, PDJT will switch over and millions will join overnight.

Trump is the most masterful communicator the Republic has ever known, even greater than Reagan.

His mastery of the art of twitter is approach a God-like level of omnipotence

They don't have one for the Google play store (Android).

Gab says its mission is to support free speech. Hate speech is still considered free speech. Twitter used to also fully support free speech (up until around 2013), and they weren’t branded white supremacists back then. Becoming “woke” and showing obvious bias is what has ruined twitter.

Lefties love socialism and collectivism, so in the spirit of compromise Trump should order twitter seized by The State and turn it over to the post office.

It clearly seems there is a need for Alternate Social platforms.

Twitter just suspended “The Apostate Prophet” for criticizing Islam.

They are De-platforming creators that speak the truth.

I think it would be better if someone apolitical created a twitter-like service. With gab, it seems a lot of people were put off by out because it was branded right-wing.

I’m surprised more twitter type of platforms haven’t sprouted up.
