Chicago police told Fox News they've reviewed hundreds of hours of footage from downtown surveillance cameras but haven't found footage yet of the alleged attack on "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett.
The department said Tuesday night that detectives reviewed footage from privately-owned cameras near where Smollett says he was attacked and will broaden their search by reviewing footage from traffic cameras and public bus cameras.
"We are taking this investigation very seriously," the police statement said.
Smollett told police he was walking downtown near the Chicago River at around 2 a.m. on Tuesday when two masked men hurled racial and homophobic slurs at him, beat him, threw an "unknown substance" on him and put a rope around his neck. Police also told Fox News that Smollett said the attackers yelled, “This is MAGA country.” Investigators said he gave the detail to detectives during a follow-up inquiry, not when he initially reported the incident to police.

Among the obvious other questions, what was smollet doing walking alone near the Chicago River in subzero temps at 2:00 AM on a Tuesday night?

White guys carrying rope in Chicago would NOT go unnoticed and likely cause a murderous riot. Mix in some MAGA hats or even talk and it's a good bet Chicago would still be burning. I'd ask the "victim" what kind of shoes the masked, white, men, with rope and liquids, were wearing at 2:00 AM, on a Tuesday, in sub-zero weather.
If they try to stick a camera up somewhere they have a chance of being disproven by another camera, and now they are facing a lot of MUCH MORE SERIOUS legal charges: Fabrication of Evidence, Influencing an Investigation, False or Misleading Information, even Perjury (if sworn to).

He had the cops turn off their camera before he talked to them.
He probably was getting some drug and was robbed and made this up to send the cops after the wrong perps.
