Chicago police told Fox News they've reviewed hundreds of hours of footage from downtown surveillance cameras but haven't found footage yet of the alleged attack on "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett.
The department said Tuesday night that detectives reviewed footage from privately-owned cameras near where Smollett says he was attacked and will broaden their search by reviewing footage from traffic cameras and public bus cameras.
"We are taking this investigation very seriously," the police statement said.
Smollett told police he was walking downtown near the Chicago River at around 2 a.m. on Tuesday when two masked men hurled racial and homophobic slurs at him, beat him, threw an "unknown substance" on him and put a rope around his neck. Police also told Fox News that Smollett said the attackers yelled, “This is MAGA country.” Investigators said he gave the detail to detectives during a follow-up inquiry, not when he initially reported the incident to police.

Watch out for roving bands of white guys in DOWNTOWN Chicago at 2 AM in subzero weather wearing MAGA hats and carrying nooses and unknown liquid substances that magically doesn’t freeze in subzero weather. And ESPECIALLY watch out if you’re a d list gay black actor that nobody ever heard of until all this publicity about him.
The studio producing Empire is in Chicago as we speak.
I’m sure some footage (sound stage) will be handed over to CPD soon.

I had no opinion on the possibility this was real or a hoax until the Chicago police stated they cannot find video evidence in hundreds of hours of video.
You figure they’d know WHERE to look, geographically, because Smollett would have told them.... and WHEN to look, timewise.
They cannot find it? Either a blind spot or it’s a hoax.
