Due to the severe winter weather conditions, the U.S. Postal Service has announced postal delivery Wednesday will be suspended in Minnesota, Iowa, western Wisconsin and western Illinois.
Temperatures in the Twin Cities were expected to drop to near -30 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday and a wind chill warning was in effect.
A release from the USPS said retail operations at local offices will be available, but may be limited.
There will be no collection mail pickup from businesses or collection boxes. There will also be no residential or commercial package pickup services.
Me too.
If I carried letters in Saint Paul tomorrow, they’d find my corpse during the spring thaw. There is cold where you can step outside in your jammies briefly to pick up the paper, and there is life threatening cold where being in it is simply foolish under any but the most extreme circumstances.
Most of the MN schools are closed through at least Thursday.
Lets cancel Police,Fireman and Linemen too.
If the homeless cannot be herded into shelters tonight, there will be many dead homeless people tomorrow.
Sadly...

Stay warm and hope all is well with you and other FReepers caught in the freezing weather areas.
Here in Michigan we get -30 and -40 in Feb and we all just deal with it.
Thanks.
This one is going to be to rough.
It’s the lead in your water...
;-)
Good idea to give them the time off. Too dangerous for them to be out.
On a side note...Oh never mind. I don’t imagine you want to hear the temperature here today.
Got an email from my god daughter today.
She’s a podiatric surgeon. She specializes in kids feet.
She’s on her annual trip to Honduras to provide free surgeries for kids that would never have the chance to walk again.
They took an afternoon off, planning for the next day of surgery.
She went to the beach. It was sunny and 85.
I told her to extend her stay!
Well, packages, mostly.
But it’s the Warmest Winter Ever®©
Can’t they just take cold and flu?
Hot is Climate Change. Cold is just weather.
Not where I’m sitting.
The wind has just picked up dramatically here. Probably around 40 mph or more. Their are calling for a minus 60 wind chill tonight. That’s -83 on the old wind chill scale for you late 1970’s winter survialists.
Back when I lived in north-central Minnesota, it would occasionally get below -44 degrees F. We knew that because everyone who was on Propane would have the pilot die and had to fire up the wood stove. Propane would not vaporize below -44 degrees F.
