Oh, my God. Winter storm Jayden is following close on the heals of the vast destruction of Winter Storm Indra (does anyone remember Indra?). What will it take for the tabloid Weather Channel to give us a break? It is becoming comical how they desperately grasp at anything in their quest for ratings. My advice to the producers: Give it a rest!!! You are looking more foolish every day.
They don’t alternate the names between male names and female names. A lot of the names on this year’s list are ambiguous (could be either male or female) but Indra is the name of a male Hindu god, and Jayden is presumably a male name.
When I was a kid in the Chicago area it wasn’t unusual for me to walk to school in deep snow with temperatures in the low teens. It just wasn’t a big deal. It was called “winter”.
The Weather Channel is useless - the local “weather” is no more than the temperature and some inane drivel about “cloudy” or “sunny’ which I can get myself by looking out of the window - the “Local on the Eights” rarely show up on the “eights” and when they do it’s when all’s quiet and fair, never when a storm’s raging - we can be in the middle of a downpour or a blizzard and there’s no radar or description of how long the storm will rage, instead some five year old video on a “Highway Through Hell” in Alaska three thousand miles away - worthless waste of bandwidth.....
This is 'Winter'...it snows we clear, shovel and plow the til the next 'snowfall'....
This is a Storm...
The snowflake generation cannot handle real snowflakes.
And here we are deviled by Rain Shower Jane and expecting Wind Gust Bob to follow.
Yep - used to be “The one in ‘66” and such....
Eh I grew up in Chicagoland...Returned later in life.
Minus 22 is not the low teens...Talking about a 40-degree downward swing...
Point is -22 plus windchill taking it down to -40+ is weather for which people need to prepare in the event of a broken down car, furnace, etc. Standard windshiled wiper fluid and de-icing compounds will not work & gas can freeze in fuel lines, etc...
BTW, while gone, I lived in North Dakota~minus 22 is noticeable, need to be prepared. The prepared better because they had more minus 22 type weather...We had engine block heaters in cars...those are not commonly available in Chicagoland... People stocked car for emergency...put blankets, jumper cables, candy bars, flashlights and other emergency supplies. People in Chicago need to prep like folks in ND if temps are minus 22 w/o windchill.
Low teens were a heat wave in ND, and not a big deal in Chicagoland...
The weather channel does provide one good service.
During a Hurricane, look for where Jim Cantore is and don’t be in that spot.
An old rancher was contacted by the local authorities to let him know that his ranch was actually in Texas not Oklahoma like he thought. The old rancher was greatly relieved and told the govt. folks what he was glad to be out of Oklahoma.
He didn’t think he could make it through another Oklahoma winter.
ROFLMAO!
Sure - I’d want to be in front of a TV watching Cantore standing in the middle of the hurricane showing me all the wind and rain because I’m too stupid to figure out for myself that hurricanes are full of wind and rain....
