Iconic Beatles anthem Hey Jude was almost never a hit after a US record shop merchandiser branded the vinyls apple logo 'pornographic', newly-unearthed letter reveals.................
But its better than a naked woman in a dog coller sniffing a leather glove!!
Sometimes an apple is just an apple.
That was the entire point of the Beatles Apple.
Of course pervs would think so....
I don’t believe a word of this.
The Beatles hype was always full-blown plastic bananas.
By the time Hey Jude came out the Beatles were more than just a force to be reckoned with. The idea that some record shop could have stopped it is ridiculous on the face of it.
Hey Jude is timeless. It sucked when it was new and it still sucks to this day...
I was still working as a radio DJ when that record came out...I remember the label distinctly, but never, ever, did it occur to me that the half-apple side resembled a vagina.
It looked like an apple cut in half.
I guess this person has vaginas on his mind more than common, everyday, apples.
It’s a sick world.
I once heard that the practice of bobbing for apples as part of Halloween (aka Samhain) was related to this, but I haven’t been able to settle that either way, and it isn’t a top priority on my research list.
Georgia O’Keeffe’s stuff would have given them the vapors.
Ya must have to squint or sumpthin.
In 1968 while eating lunch in a redneck Houston diner, I dropped a dime in the jukebox and played Hey Jude. The other patrons glared at me as though I was a Communist subversive. Ill never forget that moment!
And if you fold the Land o Lakes butter carton juuuust right.....
As an aside, René Magritte married Georgette Berger and Paul Simon wrote the song “Rene and Georgette Magritte With Their Dog After the War” for his “Hearts & Bones” album.
A wonderful song with equally wonderful lyrics.
