In the initial media churn, they were nearly missed.
But a small band of Hebrew Israelites, members of a historic but little-known American religious movement, may actually be at the center of a roiling controversy that has gripped the nation in recent days.
It began with a now-viral video clip, filmed Friday at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, in which high school students from a Catholic school in Kentucky appeared to be in a faceoff with a Native American elder, who was beating on a drum. The boys, some wearing red hats with President Trump’s 2016 campaign slogan, appeared in the clip to be mocking the man, a Vietnam veteran named Nathan Phillips. The clip was widely understood as being centrally about the dangers of Trumpism, and the teens were condemned.
But a longer video soon bubbled to the surface, widening the lens. It showed how a group of half a dozen Hebrew Israelites had, in fact, been goading and preaching at both the Native Americans and high schoolers, using profanity and highly provocative language, for nearly an hour. Phillips later told journalists that he was seeking to defuse tensions between the Israelite group and the high school students by stepping in between them.
But who are these Hebrew Israelites?

Wonder what would have happened if Chief Stolen Valor had approached the Israelites and started beating his drum in the face of one of it’s members instead of the HS kids? Bet it wouldn’t have been pretty. I’m just sayin’.
He obviously chose to beat the drum in the face of those least likely to respond violently. The Black Hebrew Israelites wouldn't just have stood there and smiled at him.
I gather you would have to be black and prepared to practice polygamy, believe that the President commits incest, that all Europeans on the American Continent must return to Europe and give up their land and possessions, that young white men are all school shooters, dirty-assed crackers whose organs will be harvested by the government...and all that made America Great was the blood of the Black Hebrew Israelites who were the slaves of the wicked white man. How they factor in that the negro isn't African is beyond me, but that seems to be the key; they are supposedly all Black Hebrew Israelites.
In summary, I think what you are looking at is a mish-mash of Old Testament, Koran and the Pan-Africanism of Malcom X. All that's missing is the mother-ship. AND WOE BETIDES anyone who stands between them and the muckrakers of the press.

What is wrong with you? Given what the Klan was and what the Klan did, a resurgence of the Klan would mean more violence from groups like this. So you’d have people killing each other in the streets.
