In the initial media churn, they were nearly missed.
But a small band of Hebrew Israelites, members of a historic but little-known American religious movement, may actually be at the center of a roiling controversy that has gripped the nation in recent days.
It began with a now-viral video clip, filmed Friday at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, in which high school students from a Catholic school in Kentucky appeared to be in a faceoff with a Native American elder, who was beating on a drum. The boys, some wearing red hats with President Trump’s 2016 campaign slogan, appeared in the clip to be mocking the man, a Vietnam veteran named Nathan Phillips. The clip was widely understood as being centrally about the dangers of Trumpism, and the teens were condemned.
But a longer video soon bubbled to the surface, widening the lens. It showed how a group of half a dozen Hebrew Israelites had, in fact, been goading and preaching at both the Native Americans and high schoolers, using profanity and highly provocative language, for nearly an hour. Phillips later told journalists that he was seeking to defuse tensions between the Israelite group and the high school students by stepping in between them.
But who are these Hebrew Israelites?

For a man who shows up for a FEW SECONDS in the complete video, he sure got a bucket of slop poured all over him. Whoever selected to portray him in this light, and single him out of an event that was more than an hour long, had an agenda. Might that agenda have been to totally ignore the activities of the thugs from the Cult? Phillips' drum can be heard in the distance over a long period, he was apparently part of the Native American group - and the video clearly shows him making his way BEWEEN the cult and the boys. Opportunist he might be, but the prize for scum rightfully goes to the 'Black Hebrew Israelites' who must be laughing at the stupidity of the press.
Don’t know if you remember this one, for years I was trying to figure out who did this, because I remember hearing it when I was a kid. I had no idea what kind of music it was, as it was probably a few years before Bob Marley came on the scene.

I didn’t follow this or care but seeing both Alex Jones and Glenn Beck talk about it and show clips was amazing. The kids were framed by the left.
i had a little run in with them in times square. craziest thing I’ve seen in a while. they came in and setup on a corner, setup signs with crazy biblical beliefs about the 12 tribes beings African, Puerto rican, who knows what else. they had a few cameramen filming when they started spewing the crazy. as i was watching one got in my face and asked how i liked my priviledged white life. I took a sip of my pepsi and said i’m good with it. had to look them up after i got back to the hotel.
Mostly, when the KKK was not hanging blacks, it was beating or even killing anyone who identified as a Republican.

Here, they know better than to say the crap some of their comrades in larger cities are caught preaching, and for all I’ve seen, are harmless so far. They may be under a whole different organization.
The black hebrews are a cult. They are a bunch of blacks attempting to steal the honor of being Jews from the actual Jews and claim that status for themselves. They are no more Jews than they are fire hydrants. This cult has been a problem in Israel.

Black Hebrew Israelites, byname of the Original African Hebrew Israelite Nation of Jerusalem, African American religious community in Israel, the members of which consider themselves to be the descendents of a lost tribe of Israel. Black Hebrew Israelites hold religious beliefs that differ from those of modern Jewish communities in Israel. Black Hebrew Israelites permit polygamy and forbid birth control. Leaders decide who will marry and whether marriage annulments will be permitted, and they perform wedding ceremonies. Black Hebrew Israelites are vegans, avoiding the consumption of meat, dairy, eggs, and sugar. Members adopt Hebrew names to replace names they believe could be derived from slavery.
Most Black Hebrew Israelites live in Dimona, Israel, with the first ones arriving in that country in 1969. The group began in Chicago in 1967 under the leadership of Ben Ammi Ben Israel, an African American whose birth name was Ben Carter. Ben Israel appointed 30 disciples and in 1967 moved the group to Liberia before embarking for their final destination in Israel.
The Black Hebrew Israelites’s claims of Jewish heritage provoked substantial debate in Israel. Israeli law offers citizenship for all Jews throughout the world, but the Black Hebrew Israelites could produce no evidence to substantiate their Jewish heritage. After much investigation, the Chief Rabbinate of Israel thus decided that the Black Hebrew Israelites were not really Jewish and were not entitled to citizenship.
The Black Hebrew Israelites entered Israel with temporary visas, which were periodically renewed while the government considered their claims to citizenship. They were allowed to live, work, and receive health care in Israel and were given loans so they could meet their basic needs. However, their non-citizen status did not provide the free education for their children, tax exemptions, and loans for permanent settlement that were available to Jewish immigrants.
Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, the Israeli government did not take steps to deport the Black Hebrew Israelites, but neither did it offer them citizenship, which led to heated discussions in the country. The Black Hebrew Israelites could obtain full citizenship by formally converting to Judaism, but they refused. Meanwhile, the Black Hebrew Israelites population of Dimona grew, aided by high birthrates among the group and by additional members entering Israel. Some Black Hebrew Israelites, frustrated by their lack of citizenship, denounced Israel and adopted anti-Semitic rhetoric, arguing that white Jews were frauds and that Black Hebrew Israelites were the only true Jewish descendents.
Critics in Israel labeled the Black Hebrew Israelites a cult, a charge the group adamantly denied, and argued for their expulsion. However, proposals for their deportation met with hunger strikes in Dimona and objections from supporters in the United States. The U.S. Congress and African American leaders in the United States argued in favour of the Black Hebrew Israelites’ continued residence in Israel and sent funds, including subsidies provided by Congress, to establish a school for the Black Hebrew Israelites’ children...etc
I ran into these clowns a few times when I worked in NYC. They stood on a platform in Times Square harassing white people walking by.
I engaged once and they have goons in the nearby crowd who move in close to intimidate you. As soon as the one did, I got in his face and backed him off as I was just as big as he was. It probably helped that I’d had a few after work. Of course, if you do what I did, they start the whole “Look at the nature of the white devil, he immediately goes violent on my brother standing in the blah blah blah” I left.
