Deadline Hollywood ^ | January 22, 2019 | Antonia Blyth

“I think the thing off the top of my head might be, ‘It’s about f***ing time,'” says Sam Elliott, in the wake of his first ever Oscar nomination. “Beyond that, it’s really about the work; it’s just about the creative process. It’s great to be recognized for that, that’s really all it’s about.”

A 50 year career? Never heard of him.

But you've heard him:

"Beef. It's what's for dinner."

He played General Ross in 2003’s Hulk. A very under-rated movie. Elliott was perfect in the part.

I’ve seen that movie.

Actors (even with Mel Gibson playing the lead) don’t resonate with me. I tend to forget who was in a movie. Instead I focus on the movie itself. The plat and the story.

And THAT was a great movie. Historical and dramatic.

He’s also married to Katherine Ross from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. They’ve been married a long time.

Nope. Not young. Old. Old and forgetful.

Now that this thread has listed his roles and accomplishments, I am impressed with Mr. Elliot.

I hope he gets his Oscar.

He also plays the lead paternal role in the NetFlix show “The Ranch” which skirted controversy last year by writing off the character “Rooster” played by Danny Masterson because of the “Me Too” idiots claiming Masterson was sexually inappropriate with a woman completely unrelated to the show.

That said, he plays every bit a cowboy in “The Ranch” as well and is honestly the only character worth continuing to watch the show after Masterson was written off.

You’re crazy rhetorically

Sam Elliot’s acting is a national treasure

Where’s Borges?

He’s our resident Ebert

Ask him.
