The NFL is being urged to fire the crew who officiated the NFC Championship game between the Los Angeles Rams and New Orleans Saints over a blown call in the fourth quarter of the matchup.
A petition launched after the Rams defeated the Saints in overtime, 26-23, has asked the league to fire official Bill Vinovich and the rest of the officials who were in charge Sunday afternoon. The officials came under fire after missing a clear pass interference penalty late in the fourth quarter.

I think it’s odd, that even in this era of replay reviews, we still have controversies about referees making bad calls. Just an observation. There will.never be perfect calls on each play. There’s an old truism that they can call holding on every play. Things will happen that a referee didn’t see.
You just hope it evens out over time.
Yep, I’m not a Saints fan by any stretch, and going into the game I was neutral, but this was ridiculous.
That’s why I’m in favor of getting rid of replay, period. Get better officials.
Why get so riled up over a children’s game?
Especially when it is being played by a bunch of adults who should go out and work productive jobs instead of trying to get paid for their Peter Pan extended childhoods.
Maybe they need more referees. I think there are six officials in each game, who have follow the interactions of 22 players on each play. Inevitably some things will not be seen by a referee.
Blown call or pressured/bribed to make sure the CA team with the new stadium won?
Or have the league monitor the games from a central site and communicate reviews to the officials, that’s what the NHL does.
If the obvious multiple fouls in that single incident had not been so egregious ...
Some counted at least 3 fouls.
And how many refs/judges were on the field and they ALL missed it — during a place that looked like a TD?
That was more than an ‘Oops!’ That looked like a playoff payoff decision.
lol. nfl fans. all upset.
I just hope the nfl finishes completely collapsing in upon itself before it and it’s fellow parasite espn succeeds in turning college football into a free farm league for the nfl and a cash spewing street whore for espn.
Good one, Mr. Edd!
So the other team does?
“If your whole game depends on one play (much less a call) then you dont deserve to win.”
That’s not the point.
the answer to the problems with instant review is more instant review.
lol.
Fire Brees and Reid for losing their respective teams games.
Maybe they should take a knee? Who cares???
They had a former NFL official on a local sports radio show a few weeks ago, and he made the point that it's actually the opposite of what you might think.
Officiating has seemingly got much worse because television and camera technology has gotten so advanced over the years that it's so much easier to scrutinize things in great detail, at slow speeds, from different angles, etc.
I'm sure they'll find a judge who wants to control
how football is to played. The judges seem to have
their noses into all aspects of American life these days. Why not NFL games too? It's for Justice and the American way of life.
Praise be to the Black Robes, the Rulers of America.
Wish I watched the NFL so I could care.
It depends on the refs point of view. If from a perpendicular angle then he missed it. If from straight on, then the hit was as the ball passed and legal. Multiple camera angles are tough on a ref. Generally, I thought they did a good job. The one thing I don’t like is the mugging that some receivers get.
