With trust in governments taking a hit since the global financial crisis, people around the world view their employer as the most trusted institution in their lives, according to a survey published Monday.
In a survey of trust in institutions that public relations firm Edelman releases each year on the eve of the World Economic Forum in the Swiss ski resort of Davos, the firm found that 75 percent of respondents trusted their employer.
Thats a hefty 19 percentage points more than the equivalent trust in business as a whole and 27 points more than governments.

Of course AP gets this one wrong . Trust would be restored if those ruling elites who are 'To big to jail' got tossed into jail.
So much for the proletarian revolution. That pesky problem of workers trusting their employers is what led to Gramsci’s version of marxism, which we are suffering today.
Employers typically stick to the deal.
Employees show up and work. Employers pay up on payday.
Government is constantly changing the deal. The Federal Register is published daily with changes to or proposed changes to Federal Regulations.
If you have a company medium or large in size you have to contract with a company the goes through the Federal Register on a daily base and supplies you with changes that you need to know about.
Otherwise you take the risk of breaking a law you didnt know existed. It also gives you the chance to fight a proposed change to law that will adversely affect you.
Why would anyone trust the government when it forces you in to such a place where any day it can change a law and put you out of business.
Contracts vs bureaucratic Chaos
Contracts vs bureaucratic Chaos
Until the day they let you know that training your replacement is a condition of your severance package. Or you show up Monday morning and find that your department was liquidated over the weekend and theres a security guard waiting at your desk to watch you collect your crap and walk you out. I could go on. Good rule of thumb is to trust no one at all. Everybody is in it for themselves. Short of a few situations where selflessness is the norm (infantry in combat? Firemen?), most people will shiv you to get a leg up the day after you help them out.
I do not trust anyone in government to do the right thing. This includes the police. Instead, they will do what is either most expedient or what is in their personal best interests.
This is why government must be small.
