PEOPLE will be able to download their souls onto microchips, implant it into another body and live forever, a technology expert has claimed.
Richard Skellett, a founder of Digital Anthropologist and an expert for Future of Work, has warned of a future in which British workers have chips inserted underneath their skin.
The process has already been trialled with company BioTeq fitting 150 implants in the UK.
And Sweden-based firm Biohax told the Sunday Telegraph that it is in discussions with several British companies about microchipping.
But as humans and machines become more in-sync, it could open up all sorts of possibilities including being able to live forever.

Oh they will live forever all right. But not in the way they think
Sorry, I do not want the essence of me imprisoned in this world forever.
This is Black Mirror all the way.
Just no.
Yea i remember that episode somewhat.

I think the husband was just some type of simulation not his actual soul...
I forgot about that.
Lead lined storage for a premium fee?
I agree with your premise about ever being able to do this, but the human brain is only partially an electric computing mass.
It is also a chemically wet processing unit. While electric signals are sent from neuron to neuron, neurons use chemicals in the brain to allow/disallow reception of synaptic gaps... That's why melatonin can make one sleep or be an insomniac, for example.
Without this, any weak electrical signals, static electricity, for example, would make you convulse or have a "brain storm".
The chemical-electric brain is what we use. Replication of this intricacy will take a long time, if ever.
Hebrews 9 verse 27
And as it is appointed unto man once to die, but then cometh judgment.
God’s word really has a way of spoiling the devices of men.
One who has obviously NOT read a single line of God's word, and wouldn't believe it if he did....
Assuming the brain is all there is, which it isn’t, it is not like a computer disk drive. There is no data stored neatly in digital form. It is nothing like a computer at all, and these people who think it is are stupid and deluding themselves.
Yes I saw some of them on Netflix, I watched one last week with the guy who acts as a Star trek captain in a computer simulation, that was really good
Yea i thought that episode was great.
that was the first one i saw.
“Download?” Wouldn’t “Upload” be a more uplifting term for the process?
I bet we could come up with some interesting dystopic science fiction themes about this.
The uploaders act as if information and memories are all that makes up a persons psyche and personality.
I say this view is naive, because it ignores the system dynamics of the body... attention, subconscious, emotion. If those aren’t balanced and present, who knows what the result would be?
Further, what links between the physical world and the upload are planned? A terminal? A fully mobile welding robot? A player piano? It all matters.
Nevertheless, I have no firm opposition to research along these lines, where the dying knowingly give themselves as subjects. Just be prepared, as mistakes will certainly be made.
Can I get an upgrade?
Consciousness is a quantum mechanical phenomenon and will never be emulated in software alone.
“The chemical-electric brain is what we use. Replication of this intricacy will take a long time, if ever.”
And if it ever happens, what you’ll have will be...a brain. We can already produce those, but the programming takes around 18 years, and the results are never exactly what we may originally have envisioned.
You certainly know how the human brain functions, but why believe that the personal essence cannot by modified into a different format
This download ones being thing is way over my head. I believe its currently over everyones head. Give it a century or 3.
On Netflix right now is a new Black Mirror interactive movie where with your remote you make the decisions for the lead character.
I got tomorrow off so i am thinking of checking it out after the Pats game tonight.
God has given them a spirit of stupor, Eyes that they should not see And ears that they should not hear, To this very day. Romans 10:8
Sure, Frankenstein.! A novel written by English author Mary Shelley (17971851).. Been there, done that.... :)
