In her 25 years of marriage to Jeff Bezos, MacKenzie Bezos has been a loyal ambassador for Amazon, the company that made her and her husband the richest couple in the world.
She was an integral part of its origin story, driving to Seattle in 1994 while Mr. Bezos sat in the passenger seat, working on the nascent companys business plan. She was Amazons first accountant and was involved in its transformation from a small online bookseller to the e-commerce behemoth it is today, the second company in American history to be valued at over a trillion dollars.
Ms. Bezos, 48, is a novelist. But Amazon has defined her public image almost wholly. The announcement this week that she and her husband would be getting a divorce may soon change that. A statement signed Jeff & MacKenzie, which was first posted to Mr. Bezoss Twitter account, read: After a period of loving exploration and trial separation, we have decided to divorce and continue our shared lives as friends.
The couple, who have four children, wrote that they see wonderful futures ahead, as parents, friends, partners in ventures and projects, and as individuals pursuing ventures and adventures.
Over the last few decades, as Amazon grew, Ms. Bezos appeared with her husband at some high-profile events, including Vanity Fairs Oscar parties and the Golden Globes; in 2012, she was a host of the Met Gala. (Amazon also underwrote the event.) But for the most part, Ms. Bezos has guarded her privacy, preferring to focus on writing and her children. She could not be reached for comment on this article.

The first wife, that helped him build his empire. At any rate, even if he broke her heart, she may be able to find a way to comfort herself.
Yes, with another woman.
She worked hard and she was an important factor in Amazon’s success
She deserves half of the couple’s assets.
Liberals cannot be trusted. They will lie, cheat and steal. They have no moral conscience and double standards are the norm.
Not saying conservatives don’t cheat on their spouses, but for people like Bezos?
It’s part of their nature.
p.s. He is ONE ugly mofo.
Leaked by her attorneys. Setting the stage for her to make a claim on Amazon corporate assets as well.
MacKenzie, being a woman and the ‘Amazon first lady’, could branch out on her own and start a ‘second’ Amazon, but calling it ‘Amazona’. And, she could land a much more handsome new and young boyfriend. Money can buy just about anything nowadays.
People should have gotten suspicious when he started looking more buff. Still ugly, tho.
Rock solid lock for 50% of the fortune.
Jeff was lovingly exploring a gold digger.
I feel bad for her and this very public embarrassment. Hope she doesn’t still love him.
That is what marriage is all about - if you're lucky.
Looks like her divorce lawyer has a great PR team, placing stories in the New York Times, no less.
Not her fault, but with a last name of ‘Bezos’, the first name, ‘MacKenzie’ sounds unisex, not feminine.
Betrayal by adultery hits very hard. Regardless of the results of any divorce settlement, its not something one gets over easily
Also better looking and definitely smarter than the floozy he dumped her for. Jeff, what were you thinking? And with which brain did you think?
She’s very attractive. He’s an IDIOT.
She's aged very well, assisted by some of that Amazon money, no doubt. He's still an IDIOT.
Baloney. I utterly dislike Bezos, but had he married another chick, they would be crowing about how SHE was integral to building Amazon.
And MacKenzie would be a starving novelist somewhere.
But you gotta pay the “P” tax. And the law says she gets half of something so everyone will cheer at her looting.
She should get maybe 10 million and some child support. And they should penalize her for chopping off her hair and spying on his passenger list for his jet.
