New Gillette ad 'We Believe: The Best Men Can Be' has caused firestorm for tackling theme of 'toxic masculinity'
It was directed by Kim Gehrig, an Australian-born and London-based ad director who has previously shot commercials for Uber, Gap and UK's John Lewis
Her ad for feminine hygiene firm Libresse - known as Bodyform in the UK - featured singing female genitals
Other work includes a short film suggesting Australian men turned to bodybuilding because of bullying
Somesuch's previous work includes an unsparing look at periods with the hastag #BloodNormal She has tweeted anti-Trump messages and spoken of her pride about giving female directors 'a fair shot'

The director behind Gillette's controversial new ad is a woman whose past work includes an ode to female genitals and a short film that explores 'toxic masculinity' featuring a protagonist whose life crumbles when he becomes addicted to steroids.
The Gillette ad, called 'We Believe: The Best Men Can Be', takes aim at bullying and sexual harassment and has been viewed more than four million times on YouTube around the world, although it is only being shown fully in the U.S.
But while it has amassed 85,000 likes, it has also racked up 347,000 dislikes with some of the 98,657 comments below accusing it of being 'anti-male and anti-white' and of 'spreading pure propaganda and indoctrination.'
Kim Gehrig, the director of the new ad, is an Australian mother-of-two who lives in London, England, and has a lengthy history of taking aim at social ills through her work.

Suspected as much. Confirmed. Brand suicide. What a scalp for the third wave feminists.
Not so far along as you, but since it was good enough for Great-Great-Great Grandpa that’s good enough for me!
A brilliant ad campaign ... for all of the other razor brands not used by cuckold tree hugging metrosexual pinko-commie-libtards !
Several people recommended a Wal-Mart substitute here. I can’t remember the name.
That is hilarious.
I think we have a new name for suicidal corporate marketing “Kim Gehrig’s disease”.
I have one of those too. It just never gets as close a shave and takes just as long. I use it occasionally so it doesn’t die.
Since I retired, I don’t shave as often....a giant perk. :-)
I can see why she’s a feminist.
I wouldn't be surprised if there are businesses or groups you can hire to promote videos on youtube.
Heard on TV Gillette said they aren't backing down.
Tide is easily replaced. Is there a good alternative for Dawn?
Ah-Ha, I KNEW IT WOULD BE SOMEONE FOREIGN.
FREAKIN’ FOREIGNERS WANT ALL MEN TO ACT LIKE WOMEN.
Thank God, men will see right through this and PROCEED TO GO ON ACTING LIKE MEN.
SHEEch, people want to change everything that is GOOD.
At least, American men will ignore this dreck, won’t they, please, please.
Makes me sick
I actually saw the ad. It seemed like a relatively benign ad condemning bullying and sexual harassment, and trying to exemplify what is best about masculinity, but NOOOOOOOO, it is probably intended to quash masculinity altogether, given who is behind it.
#BoycottGillette
Well, the way they went about getting woke and going broke was so gay . . .
Right after I found out Dawn was one of their products I did a search for alternatives. Seventh Generation Dish Liquid came up. Supposedly better than Dawn and cheaper at Walmart. I use (used too as soon as bottle MT)a lot of Dawn in the shop and elsewhere. No more.
Why must YouBoob censor people? It’s not as though YouBoob is going to be personally affected by Gillette and other woke companies going out of business.
Gillette took a hit today when I bought generic razors.
I’d just boycott Gillette. The rest of Painful and Goofy will see the handwriting on the wall and hopefully change their ways.
You want to separate the MEN from the girly men, bring back the old Gillette Blue Blades, when Gillette advertised the Boxing matches on TV back in the 1950s.
Bring styptic. You will need it with Blue (one use) blades.
I thought Zombies only happened in movies.
This ad showed 41 white men behaving bad, and 1 acting nice while 5 black men acting nice and 2 acting bad.
