(Excerpt) Read more at foxnews.com ...
I still chuckle at a standup comedian’s line (can’t remember who) from years ago, who said while trapped in an elevator his worst nightmare would be hearing “sing us another number, won’t you please Miss Channing?”
Wow. Honestly I had no idea that she was still alive.
RIP, Miss Channing.
She was one of a kind. RIP.
All the more so, if they don't even have the same last name.
Good Bye Dolly! Saw her perform this. Such passion. RIP
Wiki already refers to her in the past tense.
Carol Elaine Channing (January 31, 1921 January 15, 2019) was an American actress, singer, dancer and comedian. Notable for starring in Broadway and film musicals, her characters typically radiated a fervent expressiveness and an easily identifiable voice, whether singing or for comedic effect.
Always found her entertaining. RIP.
I always looked Chuck Berry’s song about her...
“Good Golly, Miss Dolly”
Man, am I out of touch or what?
I WISH I knew what she thought about global warming. Sadly, it's too late to find out. Rest easy Ms Channing.
A living legend who is now just a legend. What a great life - RIP ...
I met her once (1973 )when she was campaigning in the old neighborhood for Abe Beame to be elected NYC Mayor. He won.
A nice woman who followed her dreams.
SHE should have stared in the movie HELLO DOLLY as she did in the Broadway play, instead of Barbara S.
Nice try, but it wasn’t Chuck Berry. It was Little Richard.
And yes, I know it was a joke
It wasn’t Chuck Berry and it wasn’t Dolly.
Other than that, your memory is fine.
Good grief....it was a joke on both “Dolly” and, of course, “Chuck”. I grew-up with “Richard” and quite cognizant of his hits.
Lighten up, Francis....
“Abe Beame”
Now THERE’s a name I haven’t heard of in a long time.
I had never heard of him before he ran for mayor, and cannot recall hearing of him again after his term was over.
He was mayor at a time probably no one else wanted the job.
God is saying ‘Hello, Dolly’ as we are saying ‘Goodbye, Dolly’. Another Hollywood legend passed away - and I never heard her comment on politics, wish today’s ‘legends’ would.
I heard anyone can edit Wikipedia.... leaving your edits untouched is a different story..
She was awesome. Saw her in "Hello Dolly" at the National Theater in Washington, DC, in the 60s. Also saw an all-black cast version there that they did at the time, with Pearl Bailey and Cab Calloway -- just fantastic.
