VLADIMIR Putin has drafted in soldiers to investigate a collapsed mountain in a remote region of Siberia amid suggestions it may have been caused by a UFO crash-landing.
Whatever the cause, the event resulted in a massive rockfall which has blocked the nearby Bureya river, and left several villages at risk of flooding. So much rock was shifted it would fill 13,600 Olympic-sized swimming pools, say experts. Meanwhile, the falling 34 million cubic metres of debris left a gash in a mountain which could swallow up all the water used if every American showered at the same time.
A defence ministry source said a group of specialists is en route to conduct reconnaissance work at the site, where the rocks fell some 1,280 ft on to the valley floor.
The source added: Given the significant size of the landslide, units of engineers and railway forces with special equipment, as well as army and transport aviation, will be involved in clearing the rock.

These alien stories are usually transparent coverups. This incident sounds more like Cthulhu stirred. It’s understandable they’d try to avoid panic by blaming aliens.
There was a time when a UFO could expect some privacy in a “remote region of Siberia.”
The aliens must be poor pilots, they sure auger in a bunch of their machines.
Holy moly.
This is a major geologic event. If it had happened in the US, it would be dominating the national and world news for days on end.
Just Michael Rennie and GORT cruising by again. Gort was driving this trip, missed the landing, splat....
I took a speech class in college. The comparison technique is most effective when personal relatable/quantifiable objects/experiences/etc. are scaled up or down.
This publication failed to do that. How about showering twice a day for x number of lifetimes, or enough debris to build a multiple or portion of the Great Wall of China on both of the continental US borders?
it would be pandemonium
As my late friend, the chief, used to tell me...
It’s Pandelerium out there.
Loved it too. That why I remembered the pix.
North Korea had a mountain collapse not too long ago. It turned out to be a nuclear test site.
Well, that’s what happens when you drain the swamp. Swamp gas gotta go somewhere.
I thought the observation about Americans taking showers was rather astute. Certainly à propos. Of nothing. What were we talking about?
If my arithmetic is correct, that works out to about 918 million cubic feet.
I can't even picture that kind of volume.
*um, ping ?*
“The Soviets recovered a crsshed UFO at Kapustin Yar.
Wouldnt surprised if they captured another alien craft.”

That’s nothing - I heard that Francis Gary Powers was really from Planet X.
more photos, and,
“Professor Dave Petley, of the University of Sheffield, said the mountain slope above the Bureya had a pre-existing tension crack or depression at an altitude of around 1,900 ft.”

And always on Earth. They seem to have a problem landing.
So much rock was shifted it would fill 13,600 Olympic-sized swimming pools, say experts. Meanwhile, the falling 34 million cubic metres of debris left a gash in a mountain which could swallow up all the water used if every American showered at the same time.
Found some old Godzilla movie on TV the other night - don’t know how much I can stand to watch but it started off with something like MiG-15’s attacking and then crashing into Godzilla (not very effective). I set the DVR to record the later showing (1 hour long).
Then Godzilla steps on his son’s tail to make him shoot green fire or something.
Now if I could just figure out what Japanese or Chinese movie I saw part of in the late 1980’s. Had four characters that became fish or something and shot beams of color out their mouths. Each had a different color, lol.
I’m still looking for an old Jackie Chan movie - he’s driving an orange or red car and then winds up fighting several women (dressed in black, IIRC) on some stairs in a warehouse.
Some of the schlocky stuff makes me laugh.
