PARIS - A 50-year-old French author is under fire on social media for saying he couldn’t love a woman his own age.
According to USA Today, BBC News and other outlets, Yann Moix made the controversial comments in a recent interview with Marie Claire France.
"I'm telling you the truth," the TV host and "Rompre (Breaking Up)" writer said in French. "At 50 years old, I am incapable of loving a 50-year-old woman."
When asked to explain, he said: "I find that too old. When I'm 60 years old, I'll be able to do it. Then 50 years old will appear young to me."
But for now, women his own age are "invisible" to him, he continued.
“The body of a 25-year-old woman is extraordinary,” he said. “The body of a 50-year-old woman isn't extraordinary at all.”
Outraged women flocked to Twitter to slam Moix, calling his words sexist.
But it true.
I remember Sue Hubble discussing this in her book about Bee keeping. I read it in my mid thirties.
She spoke about once a woman is over a certain age men do not register them as present or women to really see. She talked about the freedom of being invisible.
Years later, as attractive as I am, I see the difference in the male response when I walk into a restaurant or store. It is nothing bad,it is just different. Men are attracted to young women. They do not see the older one. I imagine there is an biological issue here.

Bullcrap. There are smoking hot 50 year old babes and nasty, crusty, out of shape 25 year olds galore. And way too many with gross tattoos.
Well, what is age appropriate. I think a man marrying a gal 5 to 15 years younger is a good thing, especially if he provides for her. I think a woman marrying someone much younger, is going to have issues at some point in time.
It all comes down to the same things, regardless of the country or the ethnicity. You grow together thru respectful argument, and requires you to listen and adapt to your partner. If you don’t do that, then it doesn’t go anywhere.
For a 40 year old man, the main reason to marry is to have kids, which means that it makes sense to seek a woman who is still in her most fertile years (20 to 35). If he's not interested in kids, it makes more sense to just live with her, and avoid the risks of divorce-rape.

I find a 35 or 40 year old woman with a nice figure to be quite attractive.
I’m not deluded into thinking they would have the same attraction for me at my age.

Not necessarily. I love older men, and even find very old men very handsome. Buddy Ebsen sat at the next table from me at a restaurant once. I thought he was one of the most handsome men I had ever seen. Unfortunately, I was on a date and couldn't flirt with him. LOL

And less emotional availability
