PARIS - A 50-year-old French author is under fire on social media for saying he couldn’t love a woman his own age.
According to USA Today, BBC News and other outlets, Yann Moix made the controversial comments in a recent interview with Marie Claire France.
"I'm telling you the truth," the TV host and "Rompre (Breaking Up)" writer said in French. "At 50 years old, I am incapable of loving a 50-year-old woman."
When asked to explain, he said: "I find that too old. When I'm 60 years old, I'll be able to do it. Then 50 years old will appear young to me."
But for now, women his own age are "invisible" to him, he continued.
“The body of a 25-year-old woman is extraordinary,” he said. “The body of a 50-year-old woman isn't extraordinary at all.”
Outraged women flocked to Twitter to slam Moix, calling his words sexist.
The guy is dead wrong.
IIRC, Ben FRanklin had some words of wisdom about older women, which are, in my experience, true. I’ll spare you the details.
You might be surprised. If he's charming and has money, he will not lack for young female companionship.
What he means is reset your wife every time she hits 50 and start with someone 15 years younger.
Interesting. I think women, just start hitting their peak when they’re 50. It depends of course, if they’ve been divorced, as I find many post divorce women in contempt of men their age or older, so they go after the younger guys.
I’ve been where this guy is, in thought. You date a younger gal, and yes, they make you feel young, but after a time, they make you feel old too.
The other thing, is all told, it seems like true love and companionship is more to do with the cerebral and communication regarding commonality rather than the physical attraction, although that is important also.
I had a date some years back, soon after I was divorced. The gal was attractive, very much so, younger than me, and on the first date it was like we couldn’t talk enough on a variety of topics.
Then, while we’re watching a jazz quartet in one of these Chicago Lounges, she turns to me, out of the blue and says:
“Wasn’t Nixon such a crook?”
IOWs her true liberal left leaning democrat colors, came out. I gave her cab fair, and said “Good Night.”

I think the ideal formula for men is to select women half their age + 7 years.
It is pretty standard for men to date younger women. Men often get richer & more confident as they get older, which makes them more attractive as mates (imagine that??).
I will also say that [native] Asian women routinely look 10-15 years younger than they really are. In contrast, most modern American women look 5 years older than they really are.

Men in their late 30s, early 40s are a HUGE catch for women of the same cohort.
In today’s society, women in their prime sexual marketplace value (hot in their 20s/early 30s) give their wares away. Nature gave them this to provide an incentive to procreate.
Later, when their attractiveness lowers and men instinctively shy away (men want to procreate until they die even if the act does not result on procreation), female biology takes over and the “why are the good men taken” syndrome kicks in.
They may mock God but they cannot mock nature.
This guy might not be a catch by how he looks but he is a catch by what he offers.
Women in their late 30s and early 40s have 2 choices: him or being the neighborhood cat lady.
Again, this is ACROSS THE COHORT. There are red hot women in their 50s (my wife — in her early 60s who looks 30s-ish). There are guys who could not land a woman in her 70s.
But as a numbers game, he is 100% correct.

Eh, he has his own opinion and if he can pay for it, he’ll be able to enjoy the extraordinary body of someone who will overlook his own imperfections and aging.
Yes, I sincerely wish that I had the body of 16 year old me, but that was pre-baby, pre-long-term office job, and prior to the long arm of genetics grabbing me. Out of all the grandkids, I’m the one who inherited my grandma’s shape. So, I’m working hard and fighting back.
Let Monsier Frog enjoy what he can, while he can. If he’s lucky enough, he’ll actually find someone that loves him in spite of his shallow attitude.
