It’s when the spider answers back that the full police response is warranted.

I once considered calling 911 after I heard a woman screaming in the next door apartment. Good thing I didn’t. But it continued on and off until she eventually moved out.

If the spider was a Huntsman Spider, I’d be looking for a can of RAID, or the spare cinderblock too.
Australia is load with all manner of Creepy Crawlers.

After they called triple zero, officers arrived to find a man trying to kill a spider, who apologised for having an extreme fear of the arachnid.
...
Today I learned that they call 000 instead of 911.

They come out of TX, too. I was yelling much the same while bashing a snake in the living room with a cast iron skillet. The neighbor heard me yelling and thought about calling the cops but didn’t. To think I could have been being killed but she couldn’t be bothered to help.

Who can blame him when the spiders over there are more dangerous than MS-13?

There is a video (the name/link know escapes me) on YouTube where the voiceover refers to Australia as "Mother Nature's killing field."
I've never been there, but from what I've heard that's pretty accurate.
However, I've heard Louisiana gives Australia a run for its money...
