The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example:
AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram)

No hint today but there are some nice examples of what to look for in a cryptogram puzzzle before you get started.
1. Check for suffixes that are similar esp 3 and 4 letter ones.
2. Look for words ending with the 2 same letters. Frequently these are s or as in this case something else.
