After complaints from various activist groups, the song "Vanilla Ice Cream" has been banned from Broadway. She song, which is featured in the Tony Award winning musical, "She Loves Me" has been deemed racist by the ruling committee.
When asked about the decision, one Broadway official said, "in today's political climate, we can no longer include a song with such an overt racist message as Vanilla Ice Cream. The song is nothing but pure hate speech."
Another Broadway executive added, "We are no longer a nation of vanilla. We are also chocolate, strawberry, and so many other flavors. Vanilla ice cream is white supremacy!"
The song, which was performed by Tony Award winner Laura Benanti in the 2016 Broadway revival, has been cut from the show's score and will be banned in any future Broadway or Off Broadway revival. Meanwhile, fans of the Broadway musical are outraged at the decision to ban the popular show tune.
"Are you kidding? They're banning Vanilla Ice Cream? How is ice cream racist?" posted a fan.
"I'm all for inclusion and diversity, but this is going to far," wrote another fan.
Meanwhile, Benanti's performance of the song has been cut from the videotaped performance which has been aired on PBS and BroadwayHD over the last two years. When asked about the decision, Benanti asked, "What's going to happen? Will they strip us of all of our Tony nominations? What about the productions from the 1960's and 1990's? Will they strip their awards too?"
Fans of the musical have started the hostage #SaveVanillaIceCream. Executives believe the decision is for the best.
"Love Trumps hate. And vanilla" Said an anonymous Broadway producer
Oops, forgot to include the Satire tag. This is a parody.
Thanks Edna "a la" Mode, this is quite the scoop, really bowled me over, and this satire is probably worthy of the cone brothers. ;^)
If you get a chance to see it, do so. it's a lot of fun.
Yes. Need satire tag. Otherwise it’s impossible to tell any more.
Is this your own parody? Or are you quoting actual people?
I remember Cassius Clay turning ice cream into a racist issue once. He claimed that everytime that he ordered a doubledecker ice cream cone that they always put the CHOCOLATE on the Bottom!
It was pretty funny actually because of the way he tried to act serious about it. Always wished that I could find that clip again.
We were at a dance last night and the band played All About That Bass. After listening to the lyrics, I’m wondering... what’s the big deal about Baby It’s Cold Outside.
It’s my own parody. I made up the entire thing.
I haven't been back in a while, so I don't know if they still have the gall to sell it, but I hope they do.
How will they make banana splits without vanilla ice cream? The other flavors come from the toppings - chocolate, strawberry and pineapple.
Sounds as if it came right off of Zappa’s Broadway parody from Thing-Fish.

This is a loved song? This stuff was a literal joke 40 years ago.
