Soon it will be 50 years since Woodstock.
Not sure what surprises more: the fact that seminal cultural event is coming up on a half-century or that some of its featured acts are still touring. Wasnt rock n roll a youth movement? Didnt The Whos Pete Townshend write the immortal line Hope I die before I get old? and sing it at Woodstock?
Answers: Yes but not anymore. And yes Pete did, indeed, sing that line from My Generation on the third and last day of Woodstock on Aug. 17, 1969.
This week, The Bethel Woods Center for the Arts with Live Nation Concerts and INVNT announced a 50th anniversary edition of Woodstock for August 2019.

Only LGBQTWXYZ acts should be allowed to perform.
Burning man amounts to malignant idiocy by a mob of drug addled miscreants.
Was at the first one at white lake in 69. Thats enough.
Of what i Can remember, I had a good time. My memory today of it is about the same as a week after the event. And that proves I was there.
My favorite performances? The Who and surprisingly Sly and the Family Stone. Janis Joplin was OK. The Band was good. The Dead were stoned to the point that their music was unintelligible.
Lots of new faces like Joe Cocker and Sha Na Na no one ever heard of. Also CSN was unheard of as a band. Missed Hendrix. He played Monday morning while I was hiking the 10 miles to my car.
The concert could be sponsored by a jails. Th slogan would be, Sex drugs...and rock n roll.
No one today has the naivete to pull off the charisma of the original. The remade Woodstock would look like a scene from ‘Idiocracy’.
But have some dignity you aging rock stars. Take the money you already earned and go sit on a beach somewhere. This guy below (Bon Jovi believe it or not) looks like the guy I just saw at Ace Hardware buying a new wax seal for his toilet.
Jails=Cialis. Thanks Autocorrect
Looks like Clapton.
Yes.
So what.
That is this generation’s wooodstock

This guy below (Bon Jovi believe it or not)
That guy looks like Eric Clapton and if you dig a little deeper you’ll see that it is Eric Clapton. Google has it messed up in the image search.

That is certainly Eric Clapton not Bon Jovi.

Christ! I was just at Ace Hardware buying a new wax seal for my toilet! You’re not in Tallahassee, are you? And, yeah, except for the hair, that’s me.
Yea. Old folks should just go away and die already. Move on and get out of the way. Right?
Only if there is secure parking for their limos and SUV's........and ample bleachers and chairs so they don't have to roll around in the mud..........
A lot of canes and walkers...
boy I do want to find out the end of this conversation.
Still alive and possibly able to perform:
John Sebastian
Joan Baez
Arlo Guthrie
Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young
“Who cares? It was a drugged out sh$& show”
Totally agree. While Woodstock was happening I was at Fort Bragg training for movement to Vietnam. I remember Apollo 11 and Chappaquiddick that summer better than accounts of stoned out hippies in the mud.
For me, 2019 will be the 50th anniversary of nothing.
