Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!” 1978

Laurel & Hardy #1. “The Music Box” where they move a large piano down a long flight of steps.

Laurel & Hardy #2. “Hog Wild!” where Ollie’s wife demands that he install a radio antenna on top of their roof. Stan tries to help. The chimney is demolished.

Monty Python’s Holy Grail is the funniest movie ever made: What other movie exists that 10’s of millions of people have memorized?

My now 30 YO son did exactly that 20 years ago. I was watching it alone, and he heard me laughing loudly. The next day, he recited the plot to his mom on the drive home from school.

He proved to me, thanks to that movie, that he had the mental ability to do well in school...if and when he applied himself.

Life of Brian is on the list, but I agree that Holy Grail is more deserving.
However, no Python scene is more hysterical today than this one from LoB:

Agree!!
Cleavon Little as the sheriff was hysterical (the whole movie was hysterical). I didn't realize he had died so young. He was 53, colon cancer. Too young. What a shame.

For sure. As evidence of that, No two such lists are even close to being the same.

But because you didn't like this particular list, it's Double Secret Probation for you.

Groundhog day is funnier than Blazing Saddles?
One of my favorite funny flix is probably not
on the list. Am I the only one who remembers
“The Wrong Box”?

This Is Spinal Tap? Cmon! Doesn't belong in the Top Ten or even Top 20.

IMO, the only reason Tootsie (lame) and Some Like It Hot (not lame) are on the list today is due to the gender bending angle. Many on the list were just childish potty humor, not genuine comedy. Some I haven’t seen and will check out.

Blazing Saddles. Offends EVERYONE.

Until I remind those offended that Richard Pryor was one of the screenwriters. I would have loved to be in the same room with Mel and Richard during the writing of the story.

There were many afternoons in college, where a few of us would listen to Richard Pryor albums in our dorm room. Pure comedic genius...I'll never forget Mudbone.

I never understood the almost universal rating "Some Like It Hot" has received as best comedy of all time.

I've seen it perhaps 3 or 4 times, and it left me, at best, mildly amused.

Meanwhile, for me, when it comes to gut-busting laughter, the National Lampoon and Mel Brooks comedies are in a class by themselves.

I guess comedy, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.

Do my eyes deceive me? Not a single Peter Sellers flick?

Definitely some of the Pink Panther movies should have made it. Anyway, I don't take these sorts of things very seriously, as most people have adequate to bad tastes in many things, and/or they simply aren't aware of other stuff out there.

Groundhog Day is one of the greatest comedies ever made.

In fact, the main theme is so profound that it might not even be considered a true comedy, but a serious drama with humor.
