Oklahoma has the Heisman Trophy winner at quarterback, the best young offensive mind in college football calling plays and a unit that led the nation with 49.5 points per game this season. They are the countrys most dangerous, explosive and exciting team. And according to the oddsmakers, experts and coaches familiar with both teams, the No. 4 Sooners are hopelessly overmatched against No. 1 Alabama in the College Football Playoff semifinal. Top to bottom, said an opposing coach familiar with Alabama, this is the best overall team that theyve ever had.
Thats why Vegas has installed the Sooners as two-touchdown underdogs, a nod to a defense that ranks No. 96 nationally by giving up 32.4 points per game. They are also dead last in pass defense at 291.4 yards per game.
With the Orange Bowl looming on Saturday and an intriguing foil appearing across the field from the Crimson Tide, we recast the question thats defined the season: Can anyone beat Alabama?
Spoiler alert: There was much more hyperbole for Alabama than optimism for Oklahoma.
Alabama is the best overall team that Ive seen, their offense is so electric, sa

I hope that OU beats Alabama. Not that I hate Alabama or love OU but that domination ruins sports, i.e., the Yankees of the 50s and 60s ruined baseball. The Patriots are ruining pro football, etc. I feel that Alabama is ruining college football IF it continues to dominate.
Alabama gets players who are already physically mature and near their peak potential.
Lots of other schools get players who are athletic and have room for great improvement with proper weight training, nutrition and much better coaching than they got in high school.
Look at Washington State. If not for the horrible snowy weather when they played Washington, they would likely have won the PAC-12 title. They rarely get really highly rated recruits, but they at the #13 team in the country. They have two wide receivers, a couple offensive linemen, and 2-3 defensive players will be in the NFL.
The closest the score will be will be right after the kickoff. OU will not be able to stop Alabama.
OVER 40 college bowl games & most of them are on PAY TV only.
Disgusting.
Yes. I remember when just about all of them were on the over the air channels. Also the half time shows were shown instead of ads and talking heads.
Alabama Football: Some Good News And Bad News Coming From Miami
Roger that .. if not for the mute button, I likely wouldn't bother with tv at all.
Quick story, a good friend of mine is a NCAA Football ref (line judge). He used to work the Big 12 before everything got shuffled up. I asked him who was the dirtiest team in the Big 12? Literally, without a second passing, he said Texas Tech. LOL, this was when Leach was there. I asked, do you need a minute to think about that or are you sticking with Tech? He said, no need to think about it, it's Texas Tech. HAHAHA!
Look at Levi Wallace. Where was he in 2013? Where is he now? Alabama took that scrawny kid and put him in the NFL. Great young man from a great family.
I have a book by Charles Thompson, Oklahoma QB who was arrested for drug dealing.
The book is pretty interesting. It is titled “Down And Dirty” the story of Oklahoma football. Barry Switzer may have been the crookedest coach ever. The entire program was corrupt.
Oklahoma State was nearly as bad. I think both programs have cleaned up since then.
