Oklahoma has the Heisman Trophy winner at quarterback, the best young offensive mind in college football calling plays and a unit that led the nation with 49.5 points per game this season. They are the countrys most dangerous, explosive and exciting team. And according to the oddsmakers, experts and coaches familiar with both teams, the No. 4 Sooners are hopelessly overmatched against No. 1 Alabama in the College Football Playoff semifinal. Top to bottom, said an opposing coach familiar with Alabama, this is the best overall team that theyve ever had.
Thats why Vegas has installed the Sooners as two-touchdown underdogs, a nod to a defense that ranks No. 96 nationally by giving up 32.4 points per game. They are also dead last in pass defense at 291.4 yards per game.
With the Orange Bowl looming on Saturday and an intriguing foil appearing across the field from the Crimson Tide, we recast the question thats defined the season: Can anyone beat Alabama?
Spoiler alert: There was much more hyperbole for Alabama than optimism for Oklahoma.
Alabama is the best overall team that Ive seen, their offense is so electric, sa

Alabama has the better team but the best team does not always win. It is as simple as that.
Upsets are the reason football is interesting.
Are they important players?
OU will score points via their prolific offense. But ‘Bama will score about twice as many against OU’s terrible defense.
OU lost their top 3 running backs in the first half of the season. The running game will be secondary. The primary job for the OLine will be keeping Murray healthy. Murray has been a very pleasant surprise. Despite his fleetness, his arm and instincts are first rate. The last game, he was throwing a little behind his receivers. Hollywood will need to get healthy too.
I don’t see a lot of hope, but we’ve embarrassed Alabama before.
I really don’t know. I just saw the news feed. It did mention that Brown is a standout sophomore who has been a starter since mid season.
Of course OU can beat Bama. They are led by the best player in college football. We will see who wants it more on Saturday.
Alabama coach Nick Saban announced Monday night that redshirt sophomore offensive lineman
Deonte Brown, redshirt junior offensive lineman Elliott Baker and sophomore defensive
lineman Kedrick James are suspended for the top-ranked Crimson Tides College Football
Playoff semifinal against the fourth-ranked Oklahoma Sooners for violating team rules.
None of the players made the trip to South Florida.
Brown is the biggest loss from the group, having played in 12 games and started five
of the last six at left guard.
Brown is. Run and pass blocking is better with him in. Lester Cotton will take his place and we will have at least two false start penalties with him in.
Thats about what my husband said. We shall see. Everybody should be ready to play when their number is called.
One was an injured starter and the other two rarely saw the field.
Do adults actually follow this stuff?
Instead, watch that popular game show on TV called, “Get A Life”. LOL
Lotta teams can play with bama for 3 quarters
Well see how OU stacks up
It should be a great game. Thanks for posting.
Greetings to P. A. #1 Sooners fan.
You must be from up north. Or Mexico. (Kidding)
They've played 2 top 10 teams this year, LSU and GA. LSU has a mediocre offense and GA arguably could've beaten AL. I'll go with OU in this one...
“Does Oklahoma stand a chance against Alabama?”
I didn’t realize they were at war.
Murray was terrible against Alabama when he played for the Aggies. He looked tiny compared to the Bama defense!
My daughter is a senior at Bama, and it’s been a blast watching their games.
The California Bama parent group gets together to watch the games. I’ve made friends with lots of people.
