Cannabis for Christmas: Pot Dispensaries Report Record-High Holiday Sales

Marijuana Edibles

California marijuana dispensaries reported record-high holiday sales this Christmas as pot products became popular stocking stuffers this holiday season.

Pot sales in the state soared in the first holiday season where recreational marijuana is legal in California, as many stores reported seeing five times the amount of customers they normally see.

One Sacramento-area store, All About Wellness, reported seeing more than 150 customers per day during the 2018 holiday shopping season. On average, the store sees 20 to 25 customers per day.

The increase in pot-hungry customers has also led to lines going out the door at stores.

Kysa Butler, who works as the general manager the Magnolia marijuana shop in Oakland, told KTVU on Monday that her store has received a steady flow of people with lines to get into her store.

....

Marijuana sales have increased statewide even before the holiday shopping boom.

“Actually, they were all driving really slow.”

Waiting for those stop signs to turn green will do that.

Didn’t Cheech & Chong do a bit about Santa getting his reindeer toked up to make them fly?

No surprise - wines and liquors have always been popular Christmas gifts.

Chicken Little nonsense - we don't have "a drunk population" although alcohol is legal almost everywhere in this country.

when alcohol was more acceptable we had a drunk population

alcohol is essentially banned in many instances, but marijuana is not. so there will be more of a stoned population

Except for raging alcoholics, people do not drink all day every day. You cannot get away with alcohol on your breath at work. People do smoke all day every day. A little toke here, a little toke there. I have known hundreds of smokers since the 80’s and they pretty much smoke all of the time, whether they are in their 60’s or their 20’s.

Sounds like nonsense - in what instances is alcohol supposedly "essentially banned" but marijuana not?

Prior to the nineties, drunk driving was not the stigma it has become, drunk tanks and sobering folks up is what cops did.

You cannot get away with alcohol on your breath at work.

I know of no workplace where one can get away with smelling like pot but no alcohol. Do you?

I have known hundreds of smokers since the 80’s and they pretty much smoke all of the time

I've known many pot smokers who didn't smoke all of the time. Perhaps you need to associate with a better class of people - or perhaps the occasional smokers among those you know have not let on to you that they're smokers.

A stigma is not an "essential ban" - and driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal.

Better class of people?

These people range from doctors, to lawyers, to mechanical and electrical engineers, to owners of trust companies in charge of hundreds of millions, to business owners with dozens of patents for a variety of products. And all of them have smoked pot like they are cigarettes for decades. They are all self motivators, but I also know just as many burnouts especially kids in their 20s who had great potential that is obviously sucked dry

What a horrible drug.

Perhaps a stoned population would be a net gain.

I don't understand the attraction. I am vehemently anti-drug but most drugs and, even, alcohol to a certain extent I "get".

I have smoked pot maybe ten times in my life. It's literally the single worst feeling in the world. I am stuck in my own head all the time anyway why would I want to ingest something that makes me even more stuck in my head PLUS paranoid and lethargic?

I want to think maybe dumber people don't have the same effect but I have known some very smart people who were pot heads. I just don't get it.
