Few cartoon characters produce more of a visceral reaction in me than Lucy van Pelt. I think she is one of the nastiest creatures ever created, an outright sadist. I was hoping the last strip of Charlie Brown would have him running for the football and instead kicking her ass into orbit. Sadly, Charlie is too nice a guy to do it. But, boy, does she have it coming.
I knew a girl in school who reminded me of Lucy, named Sheila. She was a real bitch. She & I were the finalists in our grade’s spelling bee competition. I ended up beating her over a single word to take the championship. I wanted to jump around the stage and yell, “In your FACE, bitch !” It was like getting to kick the football. Ah, a rare sweet memory from school days.
Anything with an authentic Christian Incarnation message is a better Christmas movie than Die Hard.
Die Hard is a very entertaining secular action movie set during Christmas time.
Yippi-Ki-Yay!
lol
I always thought Lucy would have made a great Nazi.
Nice spelling bee win; you should have spit at that bitch.
What was the winning word (or the one she couldn’t spell)? Find her number call it and remind her how to spell that shiite!!!
Oh, gee whiz, I don’t even remember now. It was almost 34 years ago. =8-0>
Oh, yeah. :-P I think you (or someone else) sent me that link some time ago when I said I wanted to drop-kick Lucy into orbit. Still, funny stuff.
I thinking it was almost certainly me. ;p
They marked Charlie Brown as a loser because he was trying to stick to the true meaning of Christmas, and the other kids just wanted to dance and frolic and not live up to the commitment of putting on the school play.
It was a story of peer pressure that Charlie Brown refused to succumb to, and the other kids came around in the end and agreed with Charlie Brown.
The story was a set up of the true meaning of Christmas (Charlie Brown) against the commercialism of Christmas (Snoopy's dog house), but it can also be seen today as a metaphor for conservatism versus liberalism. Today's liberals are trying to peer pressure conservatives to just dance and frolic and give up on all the traditions (commitments to their shared past) that they grew up honoring and believing.
The liberals are the Lucy's of the world, an the conservatives are the Charlie's of the world.

YEAH!!!!!!
Yet... you didn’t commit suicide.
