“The Man Who Invented Christmas” on Netflix is an entertaining take on “A Christmas Carol”. It depicts Dickens creating the original story and its characters.

The original - the B/W gives it a very Dickinson feeling. Alister Sims was the best; hate the colorized version.

I just love "A Christmas Carol" and enjoy all versions. Even the Mr. Magoo version was good, LOL.
If forced to pick my favorite, it is the Alastair Sim film from 1951. Keep the hanky handy. The George C. Scott version is terrific as well.

“Hard to beat the 1951 version with Alastair Sim turning in a wonderful performance but the George C. Scott version runs it a close race.”
Amen. Give me the 1951 version any day.

Haven’t seen that one, but anything with Sanford and Son has gotta be good.

Yes we have the DVD. Merry Christmas!

I haven’t seen this movie since just after it came out. Too bad it’s missing the scene from some other movie where Mrs. Cratchit nearly has a heart attack upon seeing the “transformed” Mr. Scrooge.

Heard a great parody of “It’s a wonderful Life” on the
radio today with Trump as the james stewart charactor.
Didn’t catch all of it but the end where the Angel is
showing him how life would have been different if he hadn’t
been born was way way cool.
Don’t know where you would find it though.

Nah. Sorry. Sim is THE quintessential Scrooge. An English actor playing a Victorian English miser, no American actor can come close.

Love the colorized. It shows real Victorian clothing styles and decor.

Absolutely, the 1951 version. The wife and I watch it every year.

In my book, that is the best Scrooge movie. The music and lyrics are great, Albert Finney is fabulous, and Alec Guinness is hysterical as Marley.

Maybe okay but the B/W typifies the true squalor of that era, the poor really had it bad during those Victorian times.
