That was a long time ago. I would say something but I have no memory from that era.

At least you picked a song before they tried pouring sugar on everything :)

I mean, I love “Hysteria” as much anyone who was young in the ‘80s, but does Def Leppard really deserve to be in a music hall of fame?

I taught Phil Collen and his son how to scuba dive and got the two of them NAUI certified - 17 years ago in Laguna Beach

My memory of those times runs the gamut. Bittersweet is precisely true.

Freeper on the scene, as usual.

What was your impression of Mr. Collens? I’m guessing probably a pretty good guy. The English rockers tended to be pretty civilized.

Great guy. Very down to earth and cool. Son was a cool kid too. They were good swimmers and great trainees.

LOL. Yes, me and my sisters boyfriend’s brother hung out at his place on Blubird Canyon, drinking Dos XX out of a shotgun glass and burning the green with blonde beach bimbettes in macreme bikinis.

ah Youth, you vanished quickly

Yep, as expected. Did you talk any about his Def Leppard years with him or did you keep the focus on the scuba?

Naw, hell, I used to deliver the LA Times to Jimmy Stewart, Raquel Welch and Telly Savalas - met (said hello) to John Wayne twice and dived with Jeff Bridges once. Had Johnny Unitas buy me a hamburger at Chargers training camp. Growing up in Newport you kinda learn to be cool around celebrities. Like it’s no big deal. ( Jill Clayburgh looked better in person )

Phil was much more interested in diving than work and we were local and long time California divers and spearfishermen. Still are. Ask me about saving David Crosby’s life sometime LOL. Liz Hurley looks good in a bikini!

Reminds me. True story. My parents were solid Nixon republicans and made wonderful friends with a like minded couple down the street in Huntington Harbour ( we had sportfishers ) - this couple were from Armenia and were big spenders at the tables in Las Vegas and Ensenada. Loved to sail out to Catalina for gamefish. No visible means of support but they threw money around like you wouldn’t believe.

So a month or two go by and no one’s seen the two of them. Some time after, we get a knock on the door and omg it’s the FBI. Two smiling young men in “cheap suits and Florsheim shoes - the kind that squeak” ( my mom later quipped) - turns out the two - Grace and George were Russian Intel Ops suspects and were being held on Espionage and Fraud charges in the Federal Lockup in Los Angeles. Man those two were the best, most interesting people I’ve ever met. Now that I think of it, they look like James Bond and Natasha. Miss them.

Laugh all you want

But if I’ve seen one 35-55 year old woman dance like a stripper to Pour Some Sugar on Me .....I’ve seen 100s

Including my rib.

Bars downtown Nashville where I live or at 30A or PCB

Or yes....even your fair city....which I love btw....it was my first big city as a boy in Mississippi...my uncle lived at the Twin 60s hotel on Central next to the Cowboys HQ around Mockingbird

Now younger 30 somethings get all worked up to Nelly and It’s Getting Hot in Here

The country turned black musically like overnight around 2000 or so

On Thru the night, high n dry, and pyromania are, in my opinion, their best albums. In terms of popularity, Hysteria, was a hit maker. Do I own It? Yes. It’s very 80s glam hair band-esque. Bringing On The Heartbreak versus Pour Some Sugar...not a question in my mind on which is better, IMHO.

I’m actually a Fort Worth girl. Can’t stand Dallas lol I was actually downtown for an interview this week. Couldn’t recognize it for all the new downtown living that has gone in over the last couple of years.

Music has changed dramatically. I tend to listen to older stuff in just about every genre. New stuff lacks.
