Mycomputer has aquired what seems to be mapsnow.co that places ads or such in small blocks in the right bottom corner of the screen
There are published remedies involving mainly removing Google Chrome extension. There is no such Chrome extension to be removed. Likewise, inthe list op programs and aps there is no mapsnow ap to be uninstalled.
My security program finds no virus or mal ware. ad blocjker does not block the popups.
any ideas?
(I like Chrome and will not use another browser)
You could place it in your browser blocked list. After that, I would do a search in your OS registry and find where it is called.
Are the ads in your browser? If so delete Chrome and reinstall it. I delete and reinstall my browser probably once a month.
This is why tablets need better finders and things that show you what is active and using CPU resources ... especially ones that will show you invisible files and allow you to delete them.
Malwarebytes.Com
Have you tried Avast, CCleaner, Glary Utilities or Malwarebytes? All free..................
EVERY FREEPER SHOULD HAVE AT MINIMUM:
AVAST.COM
MALWAYBYTES.COM
CCLEANER
All have a free version for home use. Download and install them and let them do a COMPLETE scan of your computer. It may take hours.
(I buy the premium versions because I like to support products that work. I have never gotten my computer infected using these.)
Add Glary Utilities to that list. I use it weekly.
It finds ‘stuff’ the others miss.............
Bump for later - thanks !
Let me Google that for you...

And stop visiting “those” sites. You’ll go blind. :)
For an adblocker, you should install the uBlock Origin extension.
If this just started recently you could try doing a system restore and then avoid doing whatever it was that got you into trouble. A lot of times this can save a lot of trouble shooting effort.
SUPERAntiSpyware has removed more files for me than Malwarebytes.com. I use them both. MRT, Microsoft removal tool is good also. Search for MRT, it should be installed with your operating system. Centruylink offers Norton free to their users which is about the only thing they did right.
I don’t know but have you seen this stupid fricking popup all over the Net where you are “CONGRATULATIONS” and all like you fricking won something?
Yes, I know Avast is a Russian company, I, for one, trust them more than google.
Sad, ain't it?
I only did it until I needed glasses...
};^P>
The popups I get in the lower right are from programs that are installed in my PC, including Malwarebytes.com
I tried to install MRT but it didn’t work
I ran sudo aptget install -f MRT and it said package not found.
Could you please help.
hehe.
