She aged beautifully. Made me want to be in Clint's company even if I'm just another one of them. In my mid 60's now-hope to outlive her. It might be that true happiness is engaging in good sex early and often with someone special no matter how much hurt comes along. Keeping in touch afterwards would be painful but good. Hate to see her go but taking time out to cry over lost loves would make us more human.

I couldn’t disagree with you more on both fronts. Never understood what Clint saw in her as far as appearance and I’ve seen better acting from cardboard boxes.

The Gauntlet was an amazing movie, and incredibly violent.
Sondra Locke also starred alongside Clint in “Sudden Impact”, the fourth of the Dirty Harry movies. She played an artist, who, with her sister (who ended up in a catatonic state), were raped at a beach party in “San Paulo” (which in real life is Santa Cruz, CA). She went on a revenge tour, shooting her assailants, one by one, “once in the head, once in the genitals”. Because one of the killings took place near the Cliff House in San Francisco, Inspector Harry Callahan was put on the case, and was shipped out to San Paulo to investigate (largely to keep him from killing bad guys at large in SF).

Her first bout (1990) with cancer / chemotherapy came the next year after their split in 1989. Perhaps her at-the-time undiagnosed illness played havoc with mental / emotional balance within the relationship?

Or it could be the opposite. Maybe the stress within the relationship triggered the cancer. Major ongoing bad stress in life can decrease the effectiveness of cancer-fighting critters in the system.
There is a quote to take into account (Richard Arthur “Dick” Kleiner) in which she stated “I’d feel sorry for any child that had me for a mother.”
Not to be picky, but, Harry was referring to his detective partner, not Sondra. BTW, that rant (”Nobody, but NOBODY, puts ketchup on a hotdog”) is one of the best lines in moviedom.

Loved every single movie she and Clint did together. One of the quirkiest and best was about a circus show. She was intense, fiery, beautiful and sexy. RIP.
Acc to IMDb, she and Clint use to socialize with her gay husband and husband’s gay friend. Knowing Hollywood, I doubt it was a big deal even in those days.
