WEEKLY GARDEN THREAD DEC. 1, 2018
freerepublic | DEC. 1, 2018 | greeneyes

The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds.

From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.

This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you won’t be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isn’t asked.

It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table(recipes)preserving, good living - there is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!

NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed any time-and don't have to be about gardening.

My dog looks through the window and I have a bunch of house plants. I love them. I will see how I can post something.:-). Happy Sunday

I apologize if this is a double post. But I think I lost the first one. Those beet chips sound amazing how do you make them? My husband, who had a heart attack , would love them.
They must be full of vitamins and minerals, not like the store bought chips that are full of salt. Thanks!

I don’t really miss it that much.

It’s just kind of weird.

:)

Very simple to make the beet chips.

First I steam them, and after they cool, I peel them. I have a mandolin than makes super thin slices like for potato chips and I use that to slice them.

Then you place them in hot oil, lard, or tallow, and fry. Place on paper towels to drain, and sprinkle with some sea salt.

It’s the same process I use for potato chips.

Wet, wet, and more wet here in Central Missouri over the past week. I've been suffering with a sinus/ear/bronchial tract infection so not getting anything productive done outdoors.

The ground is saturated now so all of the moisture is making its way into the pond. There's two feet of new water in there over the last ten days. Happy happy.

Sounds great. Also, if you added stuff about indoor "gardeniing" for us snowbound folks, I wouldn't mind that either. :^)
