The President’s greatest power is his/her ability to choose the Prime Minister. However, since the French National Assembly has the sole power to dismiss the Prime Minister’s government, the President is forced to name a Prime Minister who can command the support of a majority in the assembly.
In theory, the assembly can remove the president, but it hasnt happened to my research on the issue.
So, whats going to happen? IMO, I think the assembly might have to act to remove Macron and call for a special election if they want to settle the present situation down. It is fast becoming anarchy because it is apparent that radical groups have started to become rapidly involved in the protests.
If they do not, and anarchy takes over, the people will cry out for someone to stop the violence. Then comes dictatorship. Happened before in France and the man who took over, killed of a good portion of the male population of that country in his wars.
I have watched a good may videos today of those protests. Its becoming clear that some police are standing aside in areas letting the protesters through police lines. They get the police on their side and its gonna get more ugly, really fast.
Post number 81 Jim. You are right, and I and you know it.
The French assembly needs to act. This is starting to spread all over Europe now. Brussels has had some problems.
I wait for the military to be brought up. That’ll do it. Some will get shot and that’ll do it.
They were not eggspecting that at all!
And in the end, it was all just a shell game.
His people elected him.
Lmao. A British pundit addressing the french names him “your thing” ... as in “your thing surely will sign the UN migration treaty and climate change idiocy.”.

I agree. This is not good.
I got into an argument with some French guys visiting NYC and they said we owed them for helping us in the Revolution.
That was 250 years ago :)
That they weren't arguing with you in German shows that we paid that debt...twice.

Yes, and he took the job, risks and all.

How ironic. An egg from Chicken Little. “The sky is falling and the CO2 is going to fry us!”
His security sucks. That egg could’ve been any kind of device.
