Military warns EMP attack could wipe out America, 'democracy, world order'
Washington Examiner ^ | 11/30/2018 | Paul Bedard

Posted on 11/30/2018 12:51:24 PM PST by BenLurkin

The report, titled, “Electromagnetic Defense Task Force,” and the product of a mostly classified summit of officials from 40 agencies just outside of Washington earlier this year, is a forceful call for a new focus on preparing for either an enemy EMP attack or a natural hit such as a solar storm.

While it is focused on the devastating impact an EMP hit would have on the military, it appears to support a congressional warning that up to 90 percent of the population on the East Coast would die in a year of an attack that would dismantle or interfere with electricity, transportation, food processing, and healthcare.

Consider just some of the warnings in the report from the United States Air Force Air University and the Curtis E. LeMay Center for Doctrine Development and Education.

Figuring out just which country launched an attack would be difficult since certain weapons could be delivered in a satellite.

It also noted the development of the 5G mobile network and how it will run communications and why it must be protected, especially since China is the biggest investor in its development.

“Because control of 5G is roughly equivalent to control of the Internet, open 5G is critical to freedom and free-market economics. Meanwhile, access to the 5G-millimeter wave bandwidth will be critical to operations in all war-fighting domains, in particular, space command & control,” said the white paper.

Lt. Gen. Steven Kwast, the commander of Air Education and Training Command, said, “As electromagnetic technologies fuse in new and often dangerous ways, it’s critical that the military and industry make honest evaluations of present and future conflict states to ensure we’re proactive rather than reactive.”

"The fact that there hasn’t been a nuclear attack on our soil goes to show they are pretty smart."

Yup. BTW, why can't we just put a large Faraday Cage around the transformers? Simple, inexpensive, and doable tomorrow. Or am I wrong?

"As you pointed out that the nuke guys (I’m one of them) are pretty smart, so are our infrastructure guys."

Good for you, and thank you.

So, do we have the tech and ability to determine the origin of a weaponized isotope? If classified, I get it. However, I've read it many times. But then, I may be as naive as those on this thread who read fiction novels and live in fear.

Manchild,
Read the Effing links that I provided from US Mil, FERC, NERC, US Energy dept and ISA.
Cripes, here’s a electrical power grid PRIMER for you that clearly states vulnerability from insufficient surge protection needed to protect critical EHV power transformers from catastrophic failure due to EMP / CME event electrical overload, not to mention all commercial electrical and electronic devices connected to associated power lines.

Take the time to READ before ignorantly opining nonsense that contradicts subject matter experts who actually work in the US power generation and distribution industry.

It’s kind of funny, really. Ivan continues to push that narrative about our military forces being retarded and having junk equipment in futile efforts to get some real information out of Americans in Internet discussions. Maybe he’ll delude himself into getting an *ss kicking sooner, and a handful of moronic U.S. lefties who support him here will get the world war that they’re most afraid of very soon.

I am sorry, I have no idea who or what you are talking about...Ivan? military being retarded?

I provided you some real information which you ignored.

Very few lefties here—Esp. me as I have been around for nearly 20 years.

A Faraday cage will do nothing to protect a EVH transformer from a massive power surge traveling down power lines and overloading it’s windings.
There are no where enough adequate surge protection installed on power lines and power stations to negate the risk of catastrophic failure.

I hope we have a “Samson Option” for an EMP attack: Nuke them all and take down every enemy we have. Good bye to Russia, China, North Korea, Cuba, and any country sympathetic to Islamic terrorists - every oasis with more than two camels where they cheer dead Americans.

I hope we have a “Samson Option” ...

200 years from now, I want their children's children's children
to cower and cringe in fear whenever they hear the sounds of jet engines overhead
because their legends tell of fire from the sky.

I want them to hide in dark caves and holes in the earth,
shivering with terror whenever they hear the roar of diesel engines
because the tales of their ancestors talk about metal monsters
crawling over the earth, spitting death and destruction.

I want their mothers to be able to admonish them with
"If you don't behave, the Pale Destroyers will come for you",
and that will be enough to reduce them to quivering obedience.

I want the annihilation to be so complete that their mythology
will tell them of the day of judgment when the stern gods from across the sea
.. the powerful 'Mericans .. destroyed their forefathers' wickedness.

A little protection goes a long way, both in preserving the grid and making an attackers life much more uncertain

Gas stations should have at least one fuel pump that can be operated using an emergency hand crank.

EMP strikes wouldn’t be all that bad for civilians, either. Here’s a paper to dispel some of the hysterical myths.

Granted, though, civilians in blue state governments and power companies do oppose any preparations for anyone other than themselves (e.g., solar power plants for government offices only), and residents in those states obviously plan to attack each other for resources in the event of any big disaster. Living in one of those states has been an interesting experience. And as for work, they can’t even stand to mow their own yards or do any landscaping.

“Manchild,”

Listen, sunshine, the same feeble-mindedness, lack of science, and a total Internet nerd consensus drives the EMP discussions every bit as much as the Ozone Hole did and the Global Warming nonsense does.

The lines feeding the transformers would act like giant fuses if that much energy ever went down them. We have all kinds of spark gaps and overvoltage arrestors such that no voltage large enough to overheat a distribution transformer could ever happen.

For any of this EMP nonsense to happen, we first must put away science and use science fiction.

Okay regarding the Faraday Cage, but since my microwave oven has a type of Faraday Cage, I thought maybe a simple fix. Yes, a simple solution from a simple layman.

"A Faraday cage will do nothing to protect a EVH transformer from a massive power surge traveling down power lines and overloading it’s windings."

CodeToad claims to be in the nuclear mix and indicates otherwise about having fail-safe points in the distribution system.

Side note: Do you know first hand of our capabilities to detect origins of weaponized processed isotopes? Serious question.

Ivan huffs and puffs about how great his weapons are and emulates the Iranians by showing off such fiberglass-hulled creations. Ivan rants on endlessly about our F-35s being junk and how we’re unprepared to defend against the nuclear weapons attack that he repeatedly promises without delivering.

You forgot the New Ice Age, the Alcar scare, the Nature vs. Nurture fallacy, the Population Explosion, and the other crap from the 70's that never panned out. I usually include the Ozone killing Earth theory, but you already did.

If you're really in the nuclear mix and know about the infra-structure, I'll take your position over his and all the doom-sayers that cite questionable Gov and NGO reports.

Governments and businesses should really be hardening their electric and electronic infrastructures, but instead appear to be mostly sitting on their butts regarding this issue.

PING!

yeah...I’m more worried about another carrington event

I’ve heard telegraph lines melted in some cases and that some operators were able to still send messages despite disconnecting their power supplies.
