FULL TITLE: Dick's Sporting Goods considers removing hunting supplies from stores because of a decline in sales since they banned selling guns to anyone under 21 and stopped stocking assault rifles
Dick's Sporting Goods is considering taking hunting supplies off its shelves in more of its 732 stores across the US, in light of declining sales in the sector.
Dick's, which operates Dick's Sporting Goods, Field & Stream and Golf Galaxy stores, announced a planned test-run in August, announcing it would pull the products from 10 of its stores where the sales of the gear had performed the poorest.
'We'll have to wait and see how the 10-store test does,' CEO Edward Stack said during an earnings call on Wednesday, according to CBS.
Dick's is 'looking at a number of stores where the hunt category significantly underperforms,' Stack noted, adding that additional adjustments would be based on what's 'a smart thing to do from a business standpoint.'
The sporting goods chain removed assault-style weapons from all of its stores across 47 states in February.
The Pennsylvania-based retailer made the decision following the school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida that left 17 killed and 15 injured in a brutal attack by a former student with an AR-15 rifle on Valentine's Day.

What geniuses! We pulled the guns from our San Francisco store and it had no effect! Let's go national! Kinda like making a decision on stocking bikinis based on sales at your store in Anchorage, or SCUBA gear based on Denver... Doubling down on stupid...

I think you’re on to something there. Make it a sex shop. Lingerie, sex toys, various rubber outfits and other sex optional clothing. It’s already called “Dicks”. I suppose they could change it to Dicks and Clits but would that be PC? I mean what about those 100 other so-called genders?
In six months it can then go bankrupt.
A friend of the family works at a Dick’s and told my son they have an excess of unsold inventory at his location.

The nitwits who writes people this crap are incredibly uninformed. Dicks never sold assault rifles. An AR-15 is not an assault rifle.
We drive past several Dick’s Sporting Goods stores on our way to Bass Pro and Cabelas.
The Dick’s in my town closed over a year ago. I thought the whole company had already gone out of business.
Same here. I’d go to drool over the firearms, and buy my kids the running shoes and athletic wear.
Not anymore, there are many alternatives.

What amuses me about myself is that while I can’t remember the details about Dick’s past anti fire arm actions I have it carved in stone in my mind that I will NEVER go to Dick’s again!

I visited one nearby in northeastern NJ; it was odd because you’d think you were in an area where hunting was popular and all the fish were edible - but you weren’t. Some people fish and hunt here, but the population is so dense and much of the water so polluted that it isn’t a demographic that is growing; instead it is shrinking. Yet from the items for sale you’d think you were deep in upstate NY, where both pastimes are popular. You could already see them turning into a clothing store; didn’t see anyone looking at the kayaks...
