Years ago, my cousin was studying for a biology degree. They were working with microbes, and when it came to the Epstein-Barr specimens, her instructor said, “You don’t need to work under the hood with this one; it’s relatively benign. Being a skeptic, my cousin insisted on using the hood, anyway, an incident she well remembered not long afterwards, when it became widespread knowledge what havoc that particular virus could wreak. Seems what you don’t know (or what someone ELSE doesn’t know) really CAN hurt you.

There are 7 ingredients in a flu shot.
1) the (dead) viruses which are the actual vaccine.
2) formaldehyde, inactivates toxins that may have been formed during production
3) Aluminum salts, helps body build stronger immunity
4) Thimerosal, preservative
5) chicken egg protein, helps virus grow during production. 6) gelatin, stabilizer
7) antibiotics, prevent bacteria from growing during production and storage.

Our friend had an allergic reaction to the antibiotics.
Treatment was intraveneous Benadryl with follow up with pill form.

I had a very mild case of the flu for the first time, last year. My husband got sick first, and since he’d already had a flu shot, the doctor didn’t test him for the flu, but put him on a course of antibiotics. I am a retired nurse, and despite working around sick people for decades, I just didn’t get sick, except for bronchitis I was prone to, r/t being exposed to cigarettes from my chain-smoking first husband. (I’m allergic to tobacco). Anyway, I’ve never had a flu shot. Our granddaughter was visiting, and she also got sick with classic respiratory symptoms. I just felt worn out, ran a low grade fever at night, and had some bad aching to various joints, a different area each day. We had to send our granddaughter home, and her mother had her tested, and sure enough, she had the flu, though not the severe strain. My symptoms resolved in 3 or 4 days. Obviously, the flu shot doesn’t cover every flu virus, supposedly only the most virulent, and then sometimes, the flu mutates into one that the flu vaccine doesn’t cover. Still not getting a flu shot, though.
