Hillenburg died from ALS; he was diagnosed with the disease in March 2017. That is too damn bad, I love SpongeBob.
F***king ALS. Dammit. Guy was a genius.
Very sad news. A terrible way to go.
RIP, Sir. You gave my daughter and I hours of laughter back in the day.
How sad! RIP.
The boys and I loved SB.
So sorry to hear this. RIP.
My condolences to your maker.
I sat down around 2001, and my son had the show on. The minute that Patrick came out and did his act....I was hooked. I was looking it up....242 episodes. It was a brilliant cartoon that adults and kids could watch.
Clever writing and original stories.
Non-offensive. No political issue I recall.
Just 'wacky' off-the-wall humor. Not laugh out loud but lots of chuckles.
He proved you could be funny without being mean and political.
He seemed like a nice guy.
May he rest in peace. Best wishes to wife and child.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the humor in this show...Mr Crab lives in Bikini bottom. Think about that one for a moment.
LOVED Spongebob..and Mr Krabs is one heck of a businessman. RIP Mr. Hillenburg damn ALS he was only diagnosed last year
SpongeBob the Musical could not make it on Broadway.
But we will always have Sandy Cheeks , and Plankton and Mr. Crabs
Even though my now 17 year old daughter no longer watches it, I sometimes just put that show on to distract myself from life
SpongeBob is a cartoon adults can enjoy too.
Now Oak box, square pit
Seriously, dealing with neuromuscular disease is extremely challenging-ALS is the worst RIP & prayers up for the family.
When I was teaching her to drive, every time she did something wrong I would go into Mrs. Puff mode, and we would laugh about it (although she always got the point and is now an excellent driver).
So many fun memories!
RIP.
Wow!
I always assumed he was a young dude from the photos.
And to think he made the character because of his love of marine biology.
I saw a sign over a urinal some years ago.
“Please don’t throw your toothpicks in the urinal, our crabs are learning to pole vault.”
