College football rankings for week 14 have been released. Alabama remains the top-ranked team, while Ohio State and Washington made big jumps in the polls.
The Ohio State Buckeyes, who crushed then No. 4 Michigan 62-39, moved up four spots in both the AP Poll and Coaches Poll to No. 6. Michigans loss dropped them four spots to No. 8 in both polls.
Washington, who won at in-state rival Washington State 28-15, jumped up six spots to No. 10 in the AP Poll and moved up five spots to No. 11 in the Coaches Poll. Wazzu dropped to 12th in the AP and 13th in the Coaches.
Texas A&M (22) and Fresno State (25) both moved into the AP Poll this week, while Utah State (14) and Pitt (24) dropped out.
Texas A&M also entered the Coaches Poll at No. 22 and was the only new entrant this week. Pitt, previously ranked 25th, dropped out.

Alabama is in with a win or loss to Georgia unless it is a blowout (highly unlikely)
Clemson is in with a win. I believe they are out if they lose to unranked Pittsburg.
ND is in even though I consider they have one loss by not playing a conference championship game,
Georgia is in with a win.
Oklahoma is in by beating Texas #9 even if Ohio State beats Northwestern #21. Oklahoma will be higher ranked going in and will play the tougher opponent.
Oklahoma appears to be in the drivers seat for the fourth.
I expect Georgia to lose, so theyre out. So its down to Oklahoma against #9 Texas or Ohio State against #21 Northwestern. All things being equal, a win over a #9 team should trump a win over a #21 team. But if either one of these wins is a blowout, that could change things.
But thats why they play the games...
“I have a feeling that Georgia is going to beat Bama.”
The odds makers give Bama 13.5 points over the bulldogs. It’s been awhile since Georgia last beat Alabama—they’re due ;)
Haha! Go Mountaineers!
Go Boilers!
I salute you, Conor. Read your beautiful profile. Thank for your service in Vietnam and for raising a family.
With the Irish, you can’t take their no-loss record against them. Clemson played one team in the top 25. George, ND, and Alabama each played 2 teams.
But since Georgia and ‘Bama need to play each other to advance, you gotta give the winner of that match the odss to go all the way, I think.
I graduated from ND in ‘74, but I now live in Athens, Georgia. GO DAWGS!
For years, Duke always had a vote in the coaches preseason poll. That vote came from their former coach, Steve Spurrier, who was an assistant in the early '80s and head coach of Duke from 1987 to 1989.
How far does Georgia fall if Alabama only beats them by 14?
I thought Troy would beat App State and win the Sun Belt this year. I knew we had a whole bunch of injuries but thought maybe they would be able to overcome them.
Then we did not score a TD against Texas State and had to win with field goals. I knew we were in big trouble.
In your dreams,(and my nightmares). ROLL TIDE, ROLL..
They made the top 25 a few weeks ago and have a solid team and coach and will be hosting the Sunbelt Championship game this weekend!
Georgia has the youngest team in the SEC, and basically dominating every game (except LSU), theyve been able to get playing time far down the depth chart. Their improvement on defense over the course of the season has been dramatic. Their o-line is awesome, but a little banged up.
Georgia’s QB is going to be one of the great ones.
LSU dropped 4 places after losing 74-72 to Texas A & M (ranked #22) but the Texas Aggies did not move up at all in the rankings.

That was the game of the year. Seven overtimes!
They need to end “recruit stacking”. Essentially other leagues only allow their teams to recruit to their scholarship openings. In the SEC they are allowed to sign recruits, then trim some as they fit in the best players. They then have recruits who thought they were going to ‘Bama or Georgia to play, that are then shunted to non-scholarship positions as they stack the roster with 3 and 4 star recruits on the practice squads. In the PAC 12, if you have 10 scholarships, you recruit 10 players, and hope they all actually choose you or you end up chasing loose players if some bail. Alabama never chases loose players, they lock them all up and release them from letters of intent without mercy.
I was watching the re-broadcast today. I think when it was 62-62 they said the game had already set the record for most points scored in a game in that stadium.
A school may only sign their scholarship limit. However, their is no limit to the number of players that may be recruited. If a player commits and is offered a scholarship that is a commitment at Alabama, Georgia anywhere in the SEC. However, a recruit may back out of the agreement and a school is no longer committed even if the recruit wants to come back and join the squad.
Some marginal players will walk on without scholarship because they want to be part of the team or prove themselves at a high level rather than play for a less prestigous school.
A player may be recruited, not commit waiting and a school will often release the recruitment if they get another signee they want. Some good players are often victims of their gamesmanship by not committing until too late. Five stars always have a home. Most four stars do. Three stars need to take the best offer early at a school they desire to play for in college.
