CHICAGO (AP) — Hall of Fame tight end and former Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka is recovering from a mild heart attack.
Steve Mandell, Ditka's agent, tells ESPN that doctors inserted a pacemaker. He says Ditka "is doing much better," and the iconic coach "appreciates the outpouring of support and expects to be home soon."
The Bears wished Ditka "a speedy recovery" on Twitter.

Unfortunately, the downside is if Ditka had run and won the Senate seat, the Butcheress of Benghazi would’ve had a clear sailing to the WH in 2008 (McQueeg would’ve been just as happy to play ringer for her as he did for Zero).
Ditka winner everywhere he went - get well soon, coach.
- Won a World Championship in 1963 with the Chicago Bears. It was his catch & run vs. Pittsburgh that put the Bears in position to win it all and deny the hated Packers their 4th appearance in the NFL championship game.
- Won a Super Bowl as a tight end for the Dallas Cowboys - Landry resurrects him from the scrap heap.
- Won a Super Bowl as an assistant coach for Dallas Cowboys - Landry continues to tell Ditka he has too much Bear in him.
- Won a Super Bowl as head coach of the Chicago Bears.
Would have loved to see him run against Obama.
I live a few blocks from the street where he had a house when he was with the Cowboys. It is still called “The Ditka House.”
I’d have to agree with that. The 1972 Dolphins wouldn’t have taken the 1985 Bears down.
From back when SNL was funny and very watchable. Remember when Coach Ditka was in those Viagra commercials? Or something the same as Viagra.
Ditka was a Obama supporter
Ditka was being courted by Repubs to run for Senate vs. Obama in Illinois.
Ditka called it his biggest regret he didn’t run.
Ditka got adiosed from ESPN because he called Obama the worst president of all times.
