I agree. I’ve always said that politically, the best move JFK ever made was to get assassinated. I once theorized that Bill Clinton would fake his own assassination, just to get a few polling points.

I was going to say that I don’t think many people even thought in terms such as Left or Right Wing back then.

Then I remembered The Daisy Girl TV ad in 1964.
I don’t recall seeing it that year, but heard about it much later.

In 1964, L. Johnson ran a commerical depicting a little girl counting daisies. After she counts out daisy petal number 9,
a male voice takes over to say “TEN!”
as the start of a missile launch countdown.
This was to warn people not to vote for Barry Goldwater, because, the ad implied Goldwater would push us toward Nuclear War.

“There was no Freedom Caucus in the 50s and 60s”

No but there was the “conservative coalition” in Congress that existed from the 1930s to the mid 1960s. An unofficial caucus of Republicans and Democrats that worked together to limit the power of the liberal wings of both parties.

During the Republican Convention in San Francisco that nominated Goldwater the MSM got a very rough reception with booing and shaking off fists at the broadcast booths.

The modern confiscation movement began in 1963 and accelerated in 1968. The execrable Lyndon Johnson tried & failed to get national licensing and registration. Then throughout the 1970’s gun owners were demonized as dangerous paranoid kooks on TV & in movies.

Then Ronald Reagan ended the surplus arms embargo in 1983, and during his Presidency it once again became OK to be a hunter, collector, or target shooter.

Then the dam broke with a majority of states allowing CCW.

Now the pendulum is swinging the other way with Red Flag snitch laws in blue states. Confiscation with no due process, one citizen at a time. Registration unneeded when the jackboots are ransacking one’s house.

If LBJ had succeeded, our guns would be rounded up just as cleanly as in Australia, which Hillary Clinton praises so admiringly. By the way, the Australian education system teaches children to be wary & suspicious of anyone known to own a gun.

“Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.”

“...and our teacher, a chain smoking angry spinster who put her make up on with a paint roller admonished them for their hysterics.”

Lol! That’s some good writing there.
I’m seeing someone like former actress Ellen Barkin
or Rosie McDonnell.

"I was told that if I voted for Goldwater, we'd have riots in the streets and we'd be in a long, un-winnable war.....Well I voted for Goldwater, and darned if they weren't right."

Not singling out Kennedy, but some Supreme Court justices appointed around this time were the ones responsible for Roe v. Wade et al. passing unfortunately.

Kennedy only appointed two Justices: Arthur Goldberg, who resigned in 1965 (years before Roe v Wade) and Byron White, who was one of two dissenting votes (along with Rehnquist) on Roe v Wade.

JFK had no chance of passing Civil Rights legislation with the entrenched southern democrats distrusting the Massachusetts liberal.

It took LBJ who twisted arms and threatened them, and the votes of almost all republicans to pass the Civil Rights Act.

Bobby was a dedicated leftist. Jack was on our side, if perhaps imperfectly. It’s odd that the left idolize him, even though he was anti-communist. I am convinced that most of the fringe conspiracy theories surrounding his death have their origins among the leftists who never wanted to admit their hero got clipped by one of their own.

Where would we be if LBJ hadn’t stolen his 1948 Senate election? He’d have disappeared. He couldn’t have stolen Texas for JFK in ‘60. No Great Society. No Viet Nam.

Oh wow. Good to know. Thank you. Sad situation if the 1st Catholic President had appointed someone for abortion.

LBJ knew. He was ducking for cover before the motorcade turned on Elm.
