Yes, but if he had lived long enough he would have undoubtedly and unquestionably become a leftist progressive like his brother. His devotion to the Democrat party was much greater than his devotion for the principles which he embraced and stood for in 1960. His party changed, and so would have he...

Where would we be today if Kennedy hadn’t stolen the election from Nixon in 1960?

I recall that day, that whole week vividly.
Right after JFK was confirmed dead, there was a lot of talk about ‘will we be invaded by the Russians? Will Cuba send a few bombs into Florida to get even for the Bay of Pigs attempted invasion by this president? Of course, as First Grader, I didn’t know what Bay of Pigs really meant back then. I thought they were talking about farms.

No difference. Nixon, representing the liberal Rockefeller wing of the Republican party, was indistinguishable in most areas than Kennedy. If anything, Nixon might have been more reckless in war and more liberal in peace than JFK in 1961.

Kennedy was a bad president who has been made a saint by the media.

Still I agree, he was far far better than Clinton, Carter or Obama. Of course a talking crow would have been better than Obama.

The recording of Chet Huntley, Bill Ryan and Frank McGee still sends chills up my spine 55 years later. It is on YouTube.

Oh yes, I forgot about Johnson.

He combined pure evil with the ability to get things done.

Today, JFK would not bel allowed to be a democrat and would probably be an average center right establishment republican.

True, and he got lots of cool points for his womanizing. The press ignored it and even covered for him.

The real demise of the Democrat party began with LBJ and his Great Society. We are living with the fruits of his policy, the “war on poverty” — mostly the destruction of the nuclear family by welfare policies, and the decline of American values.

Not singling out Kennedy, but some Supreme Court justices appointed around this time were the ones responsible for Roe v. Wade et al. passing unfortunately.

I pray mercy and healing upon this nation from the scourge of our liberal, secular, godless ways. But I also pray for continued healing of the racial divides and a that can unite us all and transcend every background and party. In Jesus’ name.

I was 11 years old, in the 6th grade - the principal's secretary came into our classroom, said something to the teacher who then set up a radio and turned on the news.
A few kids began to cry and our teacher, a chain smoking, angry spinster who put her makeup on with a paint roller admonished them for their hysterics.

But no according to Dinesh DSouza and National Review and most Freepers

Republicans are always perfect since 1860

Democrats always evil.....Jefferson and Jackson included I guess

I commend your grasp of context

A rare quality here

Happy Thanksgiving

There was no Freedom Caucus in the 50s and 60s

Dems and GOP were far more similar

Who would average freeper if informed prefer

Jacob Javits or John Stennis?

Happy Thanksgiving Bill

And all the pundits just *knew* it had to be a “right-winger” that killed JFK.

I was in the 10th grade and remember those years well.

Somehow the media blamed it on White Southerners and lack of gun control laws.

Jefferson was never in a party called the Democratic Party. His party was called the Republican Party, FTR.

Jackson was the de facto founder of the Democratic Party, which split from those original Republicans under the name “Jacksonians” at first.
