Washington quarterback Alex Smith suffered a season-ending leg injury against the Houston Texans on Sunday. Smith was dropping back to pass in the second half when he was taken down awkwardly by Kareem Jackson and J.J. Watt. Under the weight of both defenders, Smiths right leg crumbled, leaving him in a heap on the field.

That’s my bad. I didn’t know the diagnosis was in.
“Joe, how tall are you?”
“On which leg?”
Saw it on replay earlier on CBS. Unfortunately, you’re probably right.
Not even close to being the same stadium.
*************
The present stadium is about six miles away from the old RFK Stadium. Just short drive. But both injuries occurred doing home games.
Remember seeing Theisman’s live on TV
Theisman was a jerk. There were more than a few out there that didn’t’t feel sorry for him at all.
His leg was pointing the wrong way. Pretty sure tib-fib fx
And on the anniversary — ouch.
JJ Watt is one of the NFL’s good guys.
Yep MNF heard it live on TV No longer watch the. NFL but I remember that night.
All hope should not be lost in DC...the Eagles lost Carson Wentz last season but backup QB Nick Foles helped lead them to a SB52 triumph over the Pats. Hopefully Colt can rise to the occasion.
I’ve been a season ticket holder for decades. When I said “not even close” I was not referring to geographical distance, though it clearly sounded that way.
I hope this doesn't end his career, and he is able to fully recover.
However, from the descriptions, of the injury being similar to Joe Theisman's, that still makes me queasy... I won't look at the video of Alex Smith's injury.

More:
Alex Smith and Theisman both broke their tibia and fibula.
Both were on the same exact date.
Both did so at the 40 yard line.
Both were in their 30s.
Both games ended with the same score.
Both weeks, now and then: DET & PIT won, CIN & TB lost.
Both finish with 301 attempts.

I am not saying any of what you post is wrong. It just seems like an urban myth.
Truth can be strange.
BTW - TB lost, but that happens a LOT (lol)
Reminds me of the Lincoln-Kennedy similarities.

I know what you mean. That occurred to me as well.
I still remember that moment very well. Lawrence Taylor was absolutely devastated by causing the injury.
Alex signed for $111 million earlier this year. He should take next year off and collect his money. Give it a rest.
Smith’s lower anckle was flapping around. Theismans lower leg was flapping around. Seen them both, no contest, Theismans injury was much more horrific.
“Nobody knows the extent of Smith’s injury yet”
It was reported that he was in surgery before the game was over.
I don't know about that but I do know that when he was commentating on games I always wondered how a man so consistently stupid could have been a top tier QB. All through every game he did, he'd say something like "The last thing they want to do is run the ball now, that would be a disaster." Team runs, gets first down. Theisman then says "That was the perfect call, running the ball there was exactly what they needed."
